Yes. She had a little bit of starter (22% protein) mash, a little bit of chopped beef and she foraged a bit.
But it is all at half speed. She is currently sunning herself by my side.
I think molting must be exhausting. And maybe as they get older it takes a bigger toll on them.
She just looks how I feel (old and tired). I too am sunning myself.
Silver and Pear have been staying in the coop rather than sunning themselves....in part due to the Idiots who will harrass them if they don't. Even these girls are staying close. Cheetah will chase Hector, who is then NOT in a position to drive off the Idiots (they cornered one of the girls whilst the Chase was going on the other day). another reason to pray for snow: cooling off the hormones....

Upside: I'm finding some areas of deep, rich dirt where I should plant some berry bushes next spring....I'd love some huckleberries...

I'm sure it's exhausting, and also worrying for them.
I hope the sun makes her and you feel better.
I'm seeing this quote pop up all around and I find it appropriate : "Autumn exists to remind us that things must end to begin again.”

I agree, for how cute ducks are in my opinion the mess just is not worth it. Especially in the winter. I have to ask, if you "board" these hens throughout the winter, are you going to give them back?
Hahahaha

Ya, my cousin’s hens were to stay here over winter while she moved up to Wawa she wanted them in a safe location.

Apparently ‘can you keep my hens for the winter’ is code for can you keep my hens forever 😆

But with my nieces hens it’s actually her dad who takes care of them 95 percent of the time! And he is very fond of them, cooks up elaborate meals for them, tells me what I should be doing for my kiddos hahahaha!

So if they did over winter here, I am betting ken would want them back come spring!

They are doing good today. And Autumn keeps visiting them

and keeping an eye on them. Autumn is the sweetest chicken I think she wants to be their mommy lol. And Hades wants me to let him out

Weedeating by the pond. I wasn't all the way down to the water cause it gets real soft. From where I was standing the water line on my dock was over my head and I am 6'3. This is the lowest it has ever been. The water is in good condition because I run an aerator 24/7 but sweet Jesus I am praying for rain. 🙏
Send me some rain if you do get any.
