Unfortunately, we don't have a woodstove yet. Working on getting a chimney & stove. I put them in the oven.

Tax:

These are for @RoyalChick....'her' chicks :D 🤭

You can see a hint of brown in one, the other has brown on the feather shaft. That is why they are both 'blackish'. They both have a fair amount of iridescence.

Oh my chicks ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
How did I have the strength (stupidity?) not to drive straight there and grab you.
They are gorgeous of course!

PART 2

RUN FOR THE HILLS!

.

That was Buttercup that is swooped at, I was just sitting there and swoosh, it flew over my head and Buttercup was in that gateway, it swooped down and at the last minute did a twist and swooped up and flew off. I don’t think it saw me on the chair and that’s why it swooped and twisted away not catching her, or maybe it thought Buttercup was too big, I am sure one of the Silkies would be gone.

That is the end of roaming for those guys - it's too hard on my old body :barnie
OMG! I knew something was coming because your first video was labelled Part 1, but I was sure it was going to be chickens grabbing your toast!
So scary.
Very glad everyone is OK.

Depends on the rooster. That said, likely the hens will make him earn the chance to mate. If he does the dirty with them and they are very resistant, they can expel the semen.
I have read that to be true.

In my situation I have only seen Mr P breeding my hens maybe 3 times. He likely is breeding them but there is no squawking or squabbling when he breeds them - its all quiet and over in a couple of seconds. Pangoo used to just clobber the gals - they really were quite relieved when the randy roosters went bye-bye.

Can't believe how much less drama there is now (other than bed time and the odd broody brawl haha)!

It’s obvious that Hades is the dominant rooster he jumped in the run full force and put all the big hens in their place. Then he ate and got some water and watches over the smaller girls.
