No worries, it should have at least 2 coats anyways!;)

Is that all that will be on the roof? Just painted plywood? I can't believe it lasted as long as it did - do you repaint every year? WOW, I would never have thought that alone would be waterproof & not eventually let water seep into the wood. :idunnojust goes to show how little I really understand about construction and vapor/water barriers:idunno

I'm so glad for you that that task is done! I'm still amazed at how much you accomplished in one day!!!:woot
Yes, just painted plywood. Yes it gets repainted every year. I'm looking for an additional means to keep it more waterproof this time around. For now just paint.

2nd coat is on.

Your girls are laying bigger eggs then you think. I pulled up a usda chart to size eggs. According to it, Peewee eggs are 1.25 oz. Small start at 1.5 oz, silkies are supposed to lay in that range. Medium starts at 1.75 oz. Large, 2.0 oz. x-large 2.25 oz and jumbo's are 2.5 or bigger.
Oh in that case then my silkies are respectable 😊

Thanks for that info! Very helpful ❤️

Good morning Grandma, enjoy your lovely weather!
Grandma has definitely enjoyed this weather today. How about everyone else? Tomorrow it's supposed to drop to 57 F, which technically is similar to 60 degree weather but still. This weekend had temperatures up to 76 F. And next weekend supposed to be 52 F. Calling all geese, wear your scarves!

Crazy weather for sure! It’s all over the map for this week here, today it was so windy my
Poor silkie was almost toppled over (I know I shouldn’t laugh but it was so cute and funny- yes I rescued her 😊).

Wormed - all the horses, chickies and me too…

I think I had more of the wormer on me than in the chickens! Oral wormer is a pain in the butt! Next time I will just use the pour on stuff!

But got it done with the help of my cousins older girls 😊

Tomorrow I will go and do my nieces hens and ducks.

Have you thought of Ice & Water guard? It is (I think) usually okay for flatter roofs, and also used as underlayment with shingles on the bottom edge of roofs to help protect against ice dams. Might this be sufficient?

Have you ever thought of using some of that corrugated PVC panels?

Or this product; Ondura Premium9 Panel

I was thinking of using it in the rooster run.

Boring!

I filmed tonight's roosting in the main coop. 15 minutes of film and nothing to show for it except a confused mean Aurora.

I am named the roosts after the hens most associated with them. Here is a chart for your reference.

Betty jumped up on the Daisy roost. Tried it out for a bit and then jumped down and went into the nest box. I wish she would not do that. They were full of poop when I cleaned them out today.

The next 19 minutes were spent watching Aurora scratch around in the new straw, chasing Lady Featherington out a she tried to scratch around. Once Aurora was done scratching around she ran Hattie out of the coop and spent a solid 5 minutes trying to choose a roost.

She got up onto the Daisy roost and tried to go from there to the Maleficent roost. However there is no direct jump from Daisy to Maleficent. So she hoped down, checked them all out again, and then went back to her normal spot on the Lilly Roost.

When Aurora went up, Sydney came down as she had already roosted while Aurora was stomping around.

Hattie came back in the coop and lay down in front of the camera.

Once she settled and the view cleared, Sydney went back up on the Lilly Roost next to Aurora.

The end. Everyone is where they always are. 🤷‍♂️
