Managed to catch the blood moon total eclipse at 5:15 this morning.
There won’t be another lunar eclipse for 3 years. Maybe I can use that time to learn how to get a decent photo of it!

Littles sleep-wake-sleep-wake constantly, just like human babies. And they are very chirpy/talkative. Louder, more talkative when they hear someone or it is light and they are very active, but they still meander around, eat drink, 'chat' even in the dark...just not as much as when in full daylight!

I love to hear littles soft peps - it is very soothing to me.🥰
I love the little peeps too. They are so cute.

Looks like Mozzarella has came to say "good morning". Grandma says "good morning" too. When I walk to the coop, I saw that Mozzarella was the first one to get out of the coop. Temperatures are really cold. Right now it is a mere 41° F. And this weekend on Saturday supposed to be 55 F and Sunday supposed to drop to 44 F. And tonight is supposed to be 36 F. First hot then cold. That is not how fall works.

I loved having them in my office with me. Their little chatter was so sweet.

I was going to get up.... and then I didn't. Still worn out from the weekend. Kudos to you.

I love that name, Mozerella. That perfect for a leghorn. 🥰

Boring!

I filmed tonight's roosting in the main coop. 15 minutes of film and nothing to show for it except a confused mean Aurora.

I am named the roosts after the hens most associated with them. Here is a chart for your reference.

Betty jumped up on the Daisy roost. Tried it out for a bit and then jumped down and went into the nest box. I wish she would not do that. They were full of poop when I cleaned them out today.

The next 19 minutes were spent watching Aurora scratch around in the new straw, chasing Lady Featherington out a she tried to scratch around. Once Aurora was done scratching around she ran Hattie out of the coop and spent a solid 5 minutes trying to choose a roost.

She got up onto the Daisy roost and tried to go from there to the Maleficent roost. However there is no direct jump from Daisy to Maleficent. So she hoped down, checked them all out again, and then went back to her normal spot on the Lilly Roost.

When Aurora went up, Sydney came down as she had already roosted while Aurora was stomping around.

Hattie came back in the coop and lay down in front of the camera.

Once she settled and the view cleared, Sydney went back up on the Lilly Roost next to Aurora.

The end. Everyone is where they always are. 🤷‍♂️

It seems sometimes they never do as we would want them to 🤣. Maybe they need some time to decide to change?

I have to admit I'm kind of dreading roosting time now. I don't dare leave them on their own. It seems I have two roosters and at least two hens decided on raising hell.

I am in full agreement with that lovely hen on that nasty white stuff. I can not even say or write the word yet. It is beautiful here today, 75, gentle breeze bringing down the remaining leaves. I am going to enjoy it. Our unofficial favorite holiday starts Saturday morning. Opening day of rifle season for deer. This warm weather is supposed to last all week, until of course Friday night when the temps plummet and we could wake up to the white stuff Saturday morning. Dad has already been scouting while riding Dirt, the deer are not afraid of the horse at all. So far he's spotted 2 really nice big bodied bucks. Me and mom escaped the house and took a walk to our hunting spot and passed 3 different scrapes and rubs leading to where we sit. Dad told me after he rode yesterday that the Rut is starting and should be in full swing Saturday morning. If my mind does not change, I am layering up and going with mom into the swamp. Grandma keeps insisting she'll be ok for a few hours by herself with Rosie if she needs her. I have not done a single thing for myself since she came back in August that I do believe I'm not going to argue and run away for a few hours. Me and mom even skipped out on Squirrel hunting much to the dogs dismay. If worse comes to worse and Rosie needs me, I will only be about 10 minutes away. I don't think she will need me though, seeing as how lately when grandma does sleep she goes to bed about 7 am and sleeps until dark. Yes, it is that time of the year and grandma or not, I am getting excited.

Beautiful photo. Who is the chicken ?

Funny how rules are different, here it's forbidden to hunt bucks during the rut which happens much earlier, more or less at the beginning of the hunting season mid september. Maybe because they hunt here in groups with dogs that push the game toward the posted hunters (not sure how to translate this) so the buck doesn't have a lot of chance at survival and they want them to reproduce.

I would love to see some photos of Dirt on one of the next pony Sundays 🙂.
