For once I was prepared. I have Baytril and Amoxy-Til on hand in my kit, purchased this Summer. I am using the Baytril upon everyone’s recommendations.Yay, Peanut! What antibiotic were you able to get?
Any idea what happened to the neighbor? Did the police let you know anything when you called them?I fed and watered them again today
Agree on the feather picture, that is gorgeous. It is quite chilly here today. There were even some snowflakes early this morning. I managed to convince the kids to bundle up and go outside for bit. When we got out there all the chickens were in the coop, apparently they thinks its cold too. I opened the door from the run to the outside and they decided it was fine after all and came out to say hello.
Brownie is filling out some this week

Get that book self-published already and give us a link to it.Here’s another from my bio. I used to go to hospitals (cancer ward) and give out free coloring books and crayons for the kids. The teenagers, I would sneak in hamburgers or pizzas as needed! I did all this, because I cared for the planet I live on. Why can’t others have the same dynamics?
Looks so much like my Jasmine! This one is a few months ago, her comb is a little bigger and redder now.Breaking out my purple xmas tree and decorations. Getting ready for xmas.

(In reply to both of the above.) No hormones for me due to a history of blood clots. First 5 years of menopause were HORRIBLE. Luckily things have calmed down a little in the hot flash department. But wish my brain would start functioning again. Between the menopause and fibromyalgia my memory is crap. They didn't put me on anything as there was a cancer scare (thankfully no cancer when they checked everything after pulling it). At the post op check, they said as long as I wasn't having menopausal symptoms, there was no need to put me on hormones. 4+ years later, still no pills. (And no monthly emotional roller-coaster) @RebeccaBoyd something to ask about. If you don't have to take meds, could be worth it....
I think you should petition to get that street light moved. Or at least have some spikes fixed on top so he can’t land and survey your yard.
I have not used heat before. But I do think last year when Dotty molted and got wet and it was about 6F (-14C) she was pretty miserable and got frostbite on her comb.I won't try to find that out and post it here. I fear I would get in trouble.
Between the American and the french people there is a lot of excessive fascination and contempt on both sides for the other, most of it coming from clichés. When I went to the US I felt some deep cultural differences though, like the meaning of religion, weapons, community.
Both the french and the american are a very divided people, but I guess that's true in many countries today.

We're also getting very few eggs, and my partner is upset that he can't have omelettes three times a week. The only hens laying on a regular basis are Blanche and now miss Piou-piou! I certainly don't mind that they stop laying, if they can live a bit longer thanks to that pause.
I'm kind of surprised to learn that many of you add electrical source of heat in winter. But I guess we are not talking about the same kind of cold : -8 c /17f is very cold where I live and I wouldn't dream of adding a heat source to my coop, but take ten degrees colder and it would make a huge difference.
Some mugs for today.
This one from Nougat is a bit hardcore from the molt therefore the spoiler. I never included molting butts in respect of the chicken's dignity but I think this face has an informative value. It's actually her least worse part, if you see what I mean.

Blanche. @Ponypoor you can see her brittle tail feathers. This is neither from molting or parasite.

I like the spikes idea. It's disconcerting to see it perched there.I think you should petition to get that street light moved. Or at least have some spikes fixed on top so he can’t land and survey your yard.
