I am very confused, how will a early egg mean she will be a white egg layer? I thought odds were very high that she should lay some shade of a blue egg. I have everything crossed you will get that pretty blue egg you have been striving for.
My concern is that she is showing none of the physical characteristics of a Frost legbar. No poofy toupee, no crinkly comb, no poofy bottom. Instead she looks like a leghorn. If she starts to lay with this little daylight I'm very concerned the egg will be white which would mean their was a mixup and I actually have a leghorn and not a Frost legbar.

Does that make sense?

I did not want another little egg laying machine to fall in love with. I did not want another egg laying machine that lays hers self to death in 2 years. I'm hooked now but if she is a leghorn I'm going to be seriously angry with the breeder.

None of this is her fault and I will love her just the same if not more. I just know our time together will be too short.

The two lucky beneficiaries of the egg hoard. They are passed out snoring in a food coma. For dinner last night my brother scrambled up 6 of the eggs to mix in with their kibble. For breakfast I scrambled them 4 and mixed it in. They loved it and I think my old girl is hoping there will be more hidden nests to discover.

That makes perfect sense now. I understand your fears. Looking at her picture I would say there is still hope that she is a legbar that leans heavily towards the leghorn traits. Her comb is not huge like a true leghorn. She is a beauty though and seems determined to create a special bond with you.

:hugs Hugs to you if she is a Frosted Legbar with lots of Leghorn traits like too much egg production and your time together is short (but sweet). There is some chance like @RebeccaBoyd wrote that she may not have all of the traits and lay a blue egg, and I wonder if being a cross could give her a better shot at avoiding Daisy's fate. :fl

We may just have an egg coming as well. I have now caught Glynda checking out the nest box in Hattie House several times. So today I put fresh straw in those nest boxes and the nest boxes in Cluckle Hut.

This upsets me some as it makes it more likely that the egg will be white. Of course there is nothing I can do about it at this point.

Why do you think this? I have had some EE that started laying on the early side. Even if she has strong leghorn tendencies, she might still have a bit of 'colouring' in her genes, no???

It Keeps Getting Worse

It started as sleet.

Everyone ran into Hattie House except the molting hen. What the crap Aurora!

Then it turned to snow. Glynda and Lady Featherington's first snowfall. While I had to bribe them out they did not seem to mind the snow too much
