My oh my. Today was the very first day of the snow season. I had to bring Grandma inside once again because she just wanted people food. This morning was a whopping 28 F. Then in the afternoon, it was 44 F. Then past 11:30, there came a miracle: SNOW! It eventually stopped around 3 p.m. And then when I went to go check on the chickens and the cat, it started snowing again. While it looked like snow, it looked like the icy rain was combined with snow. Eventually, when I went inside, it was confirmed that it was mostly snow combined with icy rain. How is it over there in Hershey, Bob?

Grandma: Mirror mirror on the oven. Will there be one foot of snow or a dozen? I hope my feet don't snap or break. (But I mostly sit anyway) or I'll be coated in Shake 'n Bake.

That won't be a problem. Grandma will never be Shaked and Baked.
Hahaha be careful Grandma! It’s a crazy season so far here, warm and now very cold and tonight snow accumulation…. Much preferred the warm!

But I sure can’t wait to see my kiddos complaining to me to ‘human make it go away’ tomorrow morning!

It snowed here. Winter begins. What about everyone else?
Yes snowing up a storm here darn, I hate driving the horse trailer in snow hoping it melts by Thursday ( I guess that’s now tomorrow haha).

I can’t wait to hear what the chooks have to say to me about the snow 😁

And, Peep tried mating for the first time tonight!

So Peep is my tiny Japanese bantam rooster that we put under a broody hen named Isbe (the chicks aren’t hers, she thought they were though.) Isbe is the most angry, the biggest out of our flock, and super rude. So who did Peep go for? Of course he had 4 other chickens of his size, one laying eggs that would submit to him, but who did he choose? Isbe, thats of course the only logical solution.
He’s only a fraction of her size, so he bent down and leaped in the air and grabbed onto her back, held on while she swung him around trying to shake him off.
Hahahaha what a visual!!!

Will you have good internet service there?

So how long are you here in TX for? I bet your chooks miss you.
Yes we have awesome internet because we need to hold meetings do work in the offices etc. I often joke that I get better cell and internet service in the far north than I do at home! It amazing what a quarter of a million can get you for communication systems 😆

Peanuts eyes - this evening there’s bubbles, three big ones on her left eye in the front corner, and another few on her right, same place. This isnt normal and can’t be good. Have too look it up, but why, on the fourth day of antibiotics, is this now happening? Something to do with the antibiotic? Or totally unrelated? Poor Peanut!
Well, shoot. Isn’t that a sign of mycoplasma? And Bob said enrofloxacin is good for treating that. I think you’re already on the right course for her. If it’s viral, you pretty much just have to wait it out and give her supportive care.

It is usually too late to separate when you see symptoms. I would error on the side of companionship.

If it is bird flu for example, it's already too late when you see symptoms. They will pass away quickly thereafter and all the rest of your birds already have it. That's why they immediately cull infected flocks.

Most viruses are infectious well before symptoms appear, much like Covid.
I whole heartedly agree with this. Companionship is important as long as she’s feeling up to it and if it were viral, they’re already exposed.
