You got snow!!!! I know you need it. Looks like you've been enjoying it!
8+ weeks...should have all their feathers. Joining the rest could start.Them baby chooks are so cute. They are 8 1/2 weeks and feisty. I'm thinking of cleaning that room. Putting all dangers up and away and making roosting areas for them to get them out of the tent. The floor has animal proof laminate flooring.
He's going to have quite the clarion call.Yay I got Hades crowing. Sorry about video had to sneak to the window.
I think it's partly due to their youth. My ex-batts also did quite a few crazy things the first two years they were here! Now they are over three, they are much more subdued and less adventurous. There's a time for everything I guess but it makes me feel sad when I see them staying inside or sheltered under trees for the best part of the day. Or maybe it's because their health is declining?@ManueB I know he can be a pill, but I just love Theo!

I suppose my love is not fair, as they are all gorgeous and wonderful chickens - YES, even Chipie! But, Theo and Piou-piou are my favorites. Partially because she was so tiny and lovely and an underdog - I wanted her to do well. And, her spit-fire attitude is probably a big part of why she made it! (Maybe some of Mom's attitude rubbed off on her while being raised?) And then Chipie. I think that you named her aptly. She has a 'chip' in her shoulders! Your ex-batts are sweet, but the others have 'character' as my mum would say.![]()
Great crow! He is loud!Yay I got Hades crowing. Sorry about video had to sneak to the window.
One of the two people living here is still a child at heartYou got snow!!!! I know you need it. Looks like you've been enjoying it!
Just beautiful! If there is going to be snow, that is the right sort of amount. Not the nasty cold wet slushy dusting of an inch or so I got here the other day; and not the life changing 4' or more.I think it's partly due to their youth. My ex-batts also did quite a few crazy things the first two years they were here! Now they are over three, they are much more subdued and less adventurous. There's a time for everything I guess but it makes me feel sad when I see them staying inside or sheltered under trees for the best part of the day. Or maybe it's because their health is declining?
Do those of you who have older chickens also find they act like old people ?
Great crow! He is loud!
One of the two people living here is still a child at heart(not me !!). We got back from my partner's mother at 9.30pm yesterday and it was starting to snow, there was almost 10 inches when we woke up this morning!
Poor Gastounet is utterly terrified of the snow. He kept trying to fly to avoid it and crash landing into objects or worse, big holes of deep snow. Now it's beginning to melt and he is really scared every time it falls off the trees or the roof.
He gripped to that deer antler for dear life during at least an hour! Piou-piou doesn't care, she scratches around and got some snow adventures.

By acting like old people, do you mean generally content in their life, taking pleasure from small things, and prone to occasional bouts of random irrationality?Do those of you who have older chickens also find they act like old people ?
You make it sound wonderful!By acting like old people, do you mean generally content in their life, taking pleasure from small things, and prone to occasional bouts of random irrationality?
I speak as an old person.
Who’s under that snow?
