I think it is an arbitrary rule invented by Bob to make it more interesting. Otherwise almost all of us would have no chickens at all!

Bob's arbitrary rule reeks highly of "common core" math that failed in our school systems. Kentucky I think finally got rid of it. I live in KY, this rule should not apply to me. Besides most of the chicks all my chickens have names. How else am I going to get my number down to next to nothing from over 30 if you count the chicks.

You mean the idea that "there's always one" is per Bob? Or that we're ignoring Proof #6: Named Chickens Do Not Count per Bob. I am so dense sometimes!

Seeing the hen's toes curled over it I realized I hadn't sanded down the porch edge. Removed the ladder and did it with a fine file today. Nice and soft now.

They all paused before going in. Nice! Peanut's butt, left, and Hazel next to her, looking at her while in mid-groom. She preened a bit, and so did Popcorn there on the right. On the porch, @BY Bob !
Would it be more comfy to put something down on there like chopped hemp for them?

Great photos! I love it. I don't put anything on my porch although I did paint it for easier poop removal.

I think we all need to help @RebeccaBoyd with her chicken math - I think she has far, far fewer chickens than she believes!

That's correct. Most all of us have named our chickens. If we don't eliminate that one everyone's count would be 0.
