I think part of the reason I am not in favor of feathered legs is that I really like the look of the snakeskin boots. With Bella I was besotted with her black snakeskin boots and both Babs and Eli have a similar style in green. I can't imagine it being better than that!

Ok, I'll propose a compromise, skip the feathered legs for now, but you NEED a rooster. After you get you much needed boy then we will work on feathered legs. We will break you in easy and go for lightly feathered legs at first.

I do love Goose!
Goose has feathered footies, and snakeskin boot toes.

I love her delicate lacing ❤️
Lacing was something else I wanted. I wasn't 100% sure I knew what it was, but I always think the Wyandottes look amazing and @MaryJanet has a lot of stunning lacing going on in her flock.
And now I have Babs I feel no need for a Wyandotte or Barnevelder for the lacing!

I mean look at Babs - she is gorgeous! Note also her green snakeskin boots.

I was wrong, Goose is not laying yet. Yesterday's haul from the death trap, err I mean hay nest. I know those eggs, those are my 2 rebels Raven and Blueberries. It looks like one of the Queens has also joined them in the "lets break her neck" nest. I last collected the eggs Friday evening. I hate climbing ladders and will not do it by myself so had my dad hold the ladder for me. Raven laying up there worries me. It would not shock me in the next month to find her wanting to go broody for the 3rd time in under a year.

“I knew deep down that you hated me RC! What did I ever do to you?, I can’t help it that I’m a Cochin, and yes I have feathered feets.!” :( Signed Jaffar. 74105F10-08F4-438F-83AB-98CFDE83F284.jpeg

Are they new-ish to the coop, meaning did the chicks grow up with them there, and had time to explore them? I wonder also if the small entrance is putting them off, from the outside it perhaps looks small to them.
I put them in a couple of months ago so they could have time to get used to them before the laying began. So, yes they have been in there for some time but no they were not always there. I do think, they think they cant fit in, they can easily, but clearly they don’t think this can be true. I think this because they will not even go in them to get treats out. Ill keep trying though. I may just get different ones in the end but I am not giving up yet!
I forgot to add the video of her stretching! 🤦‍♂️

Hattie, I do the same thing when I get up. Stretch out all the kinks!

That's a lovely photo of her - it captures her feather colours and textures well! 🥰 🥰 🥰

And, I know this is silly, but I really like her gold colored feather shafts - like just a touch of bling on an otherwise already gorgeous dress.
