I'm so sorry you lost her. I swear there is something to that "you will loose your favorites" theory in chickens. February 7th is fast approaching for me and that is the 1 year anniversary of loosing my sweet Poppy.
You know, she can't always whip out the keyboard and peck away and COMPLETE it at lunch time. It takes a while typing one finger beak🐔 at a time, you know. I say give her until the evening paper comes out, so you can sit with your dinner and the 'paper' and read her column....and enjoy choking on your food, or your beverage of choice coming out your nose, as you laugh yourself into syncope! :gig :gig :gig :gig

You are absolutely correct on the blue egg gene.

@ManueB The Auracana is also a tailless bird which seems to go hand in hand with a high chick in egg mortality rate. The Ameraucana was developed to try to keep the blue egg while changing the mortality rate. Australia also has Auracana chickens. From what I've seen of those, they have wide muffs or ear tufts. What some of the other differences are, I'm not sure. @LozzyR may be able to help with the Australian breeding.
I haven’t had experience with Auracanas and blue eggs, but I’m waiting to see what colour Angel’s eggs are. She should be close to laying.

I interrupt your regularly scheduled programing to bring you this announcement.

GOOSE IS LAYING!!!!!!!!!

Look what I found while cleaning out the chicken coop. We have a Cochin egg on the left and the other 2 are Loosey Goosey's first 2 eggs.

Awesome - those are some fine looking eggs!

Thank you Goose for your contribution to our lunches ❤️

Mom also discovered Chiquita is broody again. She is not upset about it at all. I have been banned from trying to break her and if she goes through with what she said this weekend I may have another announcement in the works.
Awww - more babies in the works - thanks for the smile today :)

I just realized it is Wednesday and nothing from the Queen as of yet. I hope us having to make her come on and reply or in my case scold me about Phyllis being a chicken the other day has not caused her to skip a day.
Likely out and about ruling over her minions!

Not to worry HRH will regale us with her wisdom - at some point today! In her own good time :)
