Weather whining tax.

I did this yesterday within 2 foot of Momma. She did not beat me. She threatened and half charged once but no contact was made. I held it for 5 minutes before deciding I had pushed my luck enough.

It has taken us years to come to this tense understanding with chicks. Not going to lie, would not shock me if I tried to touch one today and she came for blood.

One of these days I am going to get my mother to admit she likes Branch. Yesterday evening while taking a break from cleaning stalls she picked him up as he was walking by. She sat him in her lap and he went to purring and making his happy noises. She then looks at me and goes "What, I can admit he is the perfect little black rooster." Granted that was immediately followed by "He just does not know how to shut up." Let us forget the last part, she called him a perfect little black rooster and she willingly held him .

I was mistaken about Coco. Upon further inspection this morning, she must have hit her keel bone on something in the coop when she fell. I found bloody feathers underneath her, but otherwise she is fine. I checked her for any signs of broken bones or cuts. She’s gotta be careful! She’s my only egg laying hen at the moment.

Poor Coco. The second avian vet who saw Rusty years ago noticed hers was crooked/broken. She must have done the same at sone point.

This is why I don't like high roosts. I hope she is OK. I've seen reports of broken keel bones from falling off roosts

My girls love their high roosts, but they do make me nervous sometimes. I might reposition some, but there us no draft where they are.
