It is almost 8:30 and I just did my final check of the night. I last checked them at 5:30 right at the edge of dark. During the 5:30 check the girls were coming into the coop to roost. I wanted to be out there to monitor the situation. The girls came in, heard muffled peeping and walked over to the box to see what it was. Chiquita shrieked at them and they turned around and got up on the roost. I was very happy to see that. When I just went out to check, she shrieked at me and tried to bite me when I gently lifted her up to make sure everyone was ok. They were fine, just silent and asleep. Tomorrow after the big girls leave the coop I will shut the door and allow her and the chicks the full run of the coop for the day. Once again I will spend half my time inside tending to Rosie who is about the same as yesterday and the rest outside baby sitting momma and chicks. You know, mom told me she was going to do this Wednesday. I really did not believe her and was shocked when they came home with a box of chicks.

But, but, but, I bought all these supplies for my benefit 😮
Water, 1 cup of juice if you must a day, and maybe a cuppa coffee, or tea.

Fruit, lots of veggies - more veggies than fruits BTW, meats (not processed!), and eggs :) Whole Wheat Bread - limit sugar intake....

Actually I want you to be healthy - you need to take care of yourself to make sure you take care of your chooks 💕

I know that. That is OK. As long as it is not a symptom of another problem it doesn't matter if she lays an egg or not. That is one less thing that can go wrong.
I think I read that her breed can take up to 10 to 12 months to lay eggs.

But yes as long as she is healthy, laying eggs is not important! She is a beauty and will lay or not!

I will not lie I was worried. She is not a first time mom but I do not know if her previous owner had her adopt babies before. I was going into this blind. Thankfully those silkie broody vibes are getting the best of her.

I think Henny Penny will be like that - and I bet the other Silkies will likely be that way too.

Now the other kiddos - I am not so sure about - but I think Dorothy will be a good mama.
