I'm thinking something that isn't likely to tip over. I will kanoodle on this.

There is not as much spare space in my nesting boxes as there is in yours. Could I put them right in front of the box? I don't think I could get them in the box with her.
I've put half a handfull of feed on the floors of nest boxes before and it's been fine. It ends up there anyway. :rolleyes: Maybe even better in you situation given you have other hens coming and going. The water right by the nest box edge should be fine.

OK. I will set that up today. I am going to leave the others in place so they become a natural part of the coop.
 
It's easy to forget, particularly on BYC which is so heavily orientated to hatchery and incubator chicks that hens do this outside on a pile of earth with no assistance from humans at all, and in general get better hatch rates and healthier chicks.
Very true Shad, but us humans are such "worry warts" :barnie

I know. But we are all nervous nellies once we get personally engaged!
