So I suppose I have to stop eyeing up those darn eagle nests and considering stealing their eggs… I hope they fly off when they reach maturity, because the pair that’s been breeding here is a PITA and very successful about raising their BBB offspring.
Can you harass them with throwing things at the nest and generally making it inhospitable !??

Spa Day for Sydney
I have really limited the times I interfere in a chicken's grooming. Unfortunately, something had to be done to help poor Sydney. Every egg she lays has been smeared with poop. Not only that, she has been pooping up every other egg in the nest box. So Sunday was determined to be spa day.

Now Sydney is basically untouchable, but you show her a Blueberry and she is right up next to you. A couple of blueberries and a flogging and I had her gathered up.

Of course there is the obligatory weigh in anytime I get my hands on one of them.

2.48 kg, 5.47 lbs

She is down a little from 2.69 kg 5.47 lbs at her last weigh in.

On to the sink.......

Thankfully Eve was here to help.

Then a towel dry and a little TV. Sydney seems to enjoy old westerns.

Then on to the blowout. Once again Eve was a huge help.

All in all a huge success!
Yay to a clean bum for Sydney!

It snowed here this morning. It wasn’t cold enough to stick, but did at a few hundred feet higher elevation. And Southern California, which is usually about ten degrees warmer than us, is expecting a BLIZZARD.

We’re also expecting a week of rain. Maybe California will finally pull out of drought.

Game hen!!! 🤣 no wonder she’s an independent chicken. I think they are the best bet for any breed going feral from a survival perspective. And thank you for not catching her until she was safe. Cock fighting is abhorrent. I never had a huge interest in Game birds because of their tendency to be used like that, but having seen the spunk, determination, and general willfulness of Mama… I may have to revise my feelings about them. Blame the deed not the breed, and it’s not the chickens fault humans are awful. Just like bully breed dogs 😢
Yes I like the look of her, would like one ❤️ Wonder if any were I am getting the chicks??

Everyone looks splendid 🥰
I saw the snow - I need to call my cousin in Bakersfield, I am guessing they also got snow.

Hope the miserable weather is ok for your gals, I think you said your run is covered right?
