Yes - my luck they would all be roos! Just what I don't need. At the moment Mr P is crowing up a storm, someone is trying to do the egg song but I can't see who it is.Maybe we can get a couple of her eggs?crossed with Branch or Twig for you and maybe that gorgeous Marans Boy (Bubba?) for me

I hope that the weather doesn't get too bad, actually hope that it warms up for you. Those eggs would be great scrambledWell, you were right about the road firming up… lol we are frozen up, I’m whining, it’s below freezing. We have had two solid windstorms. My cousin has my BYC log in info saved, so if we ever do get taken out by a tree, she will log in and let y’all know. That sort of level of windstorms. A tree came down in the Draw and it rocked the trailer. I ran outside, the goats were spooked in their pen. It’s been crazy here weather wise.
Poor Scarface had a touch of frostbite on his wattles but didn’t lose them after our last cold snap, from dipping them into water when drinking. The sections that were discoloured last time didn’t fall off, but they started to bleed like crazy after the first day of “feels like -9” windchill in this round. We do have a snowfall warning, but the air doesn’t feel or smell like snow, just cold. So it’s been the usual “why is it so cold?” And trying to keep water wet around here. I didn’t walk the goats properly because of the winds, but we did have a fir take out an arbutus in the park, so it’s a great snack spot… and I trimmed and dragged some branches home for them for the day the winds were so bad they stayed in their pen all day.I’m glad I haven’t done the spring clean outs so everyone has nice deep bedding. What I don’t get is why the water chickens are getting into the water and freezing their feathers off! Hygiene is not that important when it’s this cold out!

You can see snow on top of the pitched tarp over the chicken run at the very left edge of the photo. This is California, people. Snow isn’t usually an issue here where I live. Only in the tall mountains. I’m only at 1000 feet here.

When I first offered for the chickens to come out and see it, it was like a huge no thank you.
But later in the day… like 10 hours later, this happened…

This is the first and probably last time they will ever see snow.
We also did not have power for the majority of the day, but it’s back on now and I’m heating the house up.
Good Morning Marie and Tina! How are you doing today? Hope your weather is ok.
