Caturday Saturday

Good morning everyone! Today is a 'painting' day, it's miserable and rainy, very damp. Yesterday I dragged out the lawn tractor and mowed the grassy, the ground was so soft that my little lawn mower was tearing up the turf.

The chooks like it, as there are lots of worms and bugs 😊, and they are enjoying digging through the leaves - when it's not raining!

It's so funny to see them run like crazy to the barn when the rain starts 💖

I find this odd. Dominica went broody last night and didn't go broody the rest of the day. This is today just right now at night. They are all in bed, and Dominica went broody. Maybe she is using her free no-commitment 7 night broody trial to see if she wants to buy the full version.
She doesn’t look broody, no fluff or pancake? Two of mine like to sleep in the nestbox, at least to start out there. Maybe she just wants to do that.

My chooks like the rain. They actually do! They will stay out without a care even in a torrential downpour. Missy is looking nice today :D

Finally got permission on Wednesday to start walking without the boot. So of course it is REALLY sore right now. But I’m trying not to overdo it.

So glad you found it, th at will really help. And even thought part of me would love to burn mine, I will definitely pack it away somewhere. Hopefully will never need it, but things happen.

So glad you are progressing. Please don't overdo it - don't want you to set yourself back!

Is that a macramé plant hanger that the cabbage is in? That is a pretty cool idea. Does it work with smaller items, too, such as an apple?

My oldest hen has been pulling Houdini acts getting out of the run and I find her in the adjacent paddock! Were that fox was...

I can only think that she gets out of the free range zone when I am not looking and have the mesh fence down the get through with the lawn tractor. She must see her chance and make a run for it!
OMG these Hens are going to be the death of me - I was doing chores and it's just miserable raining. So I figured everyone was inside and I shut the front barn door. While I was out dumping the manure pile I heard this frantic BAWK BAWK BAWK - Mr P and I ran for it - it was coming from outside the front door!

I ran and opened the door to Whiskers freaking out, she ran inside while I cursed her 10 ways up and down. Then I did a thorough head count to make sure everyone was inside.

Thank goodness I only have to count to 13! I spend just as much time running around counting and chasing after chickens as I do mucking out stalls!

Right now it's pelting down, so they are all inside - with all the doors closed! In a few minutes I will start on the painting of the office/feed room, I need to get my shelves, tools, feed bins and what-not all back in here organized (such as it is).

My silkies are dumb as tree stumps they will stand out in the rain and get soaked, then start shivering like crazy. Then I have to dry them off and warm them up.

Meanwhile everyone else runs into the barn!
