Hey, I’m doing good tonight. I had cataracts surgery this afternoon, and can still do jokes! Next eye, next month
Hey that’s great - how come you didn’t say anything?! Everyone who has had it says they are amazed at how well they see colours ❤️

I can’t wait to see how well mine is when I get it done.

Did you get a lens implanted also? Are you ok? No lifting or bending down or straining for at least 3 weeks you hear me?🤨

Finally caught up. Soooooo many things to reply to.

And then there were 22.
Thank you all for your help in trying to save my chick. But she is gone now. R.I.P little chicken :(
We are down to 15 chicks. This makes me sad.
So sorry for your loss. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

That is wild. I know very little about horses. They seem like a lot of trouble at times. Much like having children. 😆
They can DEFINITELY be a lot of trouble. And some of them excel at finding ways to injure themselves. 🙄

Ok so my EE's hatched, but for some reason some of them have feathered feet like this:

Or this:

Maybe the blue egg layer was crossed with a feathered leg breed? Do you know what the parents were supposed to be?

Well ended up calling an ambo to take me to the hospital all day Started getting tired and hallucinating so I end up having a minor concussion, but dont know why I passed out, Zeus said hello when I got home the silkies are quiet today,. Usually clyde talks alot and cocoricos lol like a squeaky toy.
Oh my. Hope you are feeling better. Please take it easy.

WHAT THE BLEEP???

How did Mrs Clean-egg get Peronitis??
Today she wasn't herself, just sitting in the corner doing nothing. Both she and I knew it was her time, but I don't have the gut to do the processing so I called my friend that obviously has a stronger gut. The worst part was that I had to hold her legs while my friend processed.

Anyway, I had come across @ManueB's thread about her hen Caramel, that from what I believe died of peronitis as well. So when I saw that burst yolk ALL over her insides, I knew.
She had a LOT of water inside her, and those burst yolks. Little to no feed in her crop.

So sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl. But she is no longer suffering. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
Pea comb. I need to look that up!

Oh - she is the Ameraucana - she is supposed to have a pea comb. Isn’t she also supposed to have a beard and muffs? No sign.
I like her face.
Jasmine was very slow to develop her beard/muffs. At almost six weeks you could barely see them starting. She has a pea comb, and is trying to have ruffles like some of my other colored egg layers.

Just over one year.

Araucanas have muffs. Ameraucanas have beards. Easter eggers have beard and muffs.
Araucanas don’t have muffs. They have ear tufts. And Ameraucanas can have beards and muffs.

And if anyone wants to take a stab at breed go for it, sh lays khaki coloured eggs.
With a beard and muffs?
Yes. An Olive Egger is basically a type of EE.

Glad it went well. My husband has to see an eye doctor next week for a different type of cataract. Basically a shadow on the back of his lens. We are trying to decide what kind of lens he will get.

My girls had to get pedicures today. They had been digging in the mud floor of the coop (it is drying out but still damp), and the mud had balled up and dried into hard balls almost like concrete. But I managed with my neighbor’s help to get it chipped/ cracked off and trimmed some nails.

Scarlett was the worst.

A Mother's Day Tribute
April 8th was the 10th anniversary of chickens at Fluffy Butt Acres. I did not feel like celebrating at the time but the arrival of chickens here should be celebrated. So since Mrs BY Bob is the reason they are all here I have decided to celebrate all of her babies.

So we start with the very first chickens to live with us. Who could say no to that face.

Beautiful post, Bob!

Does anyone here know how to get rid of grain moths in a mealworm colony without tossing the whole thing?
@Ponypoor
Agathae and her comb are doing fine. Everything with the chickens has been pure chaos since the death of Little Chicken (she had no name yet).
We also think one is a rooster. Probably going to need help with that one in the future as well...
I really do not want to have to get rid of the mealworms. If I do I probably will not bother raising them ever again.

So my father in law his girl came over last night. Her neighbor moved into a house with 3 chickens that were left behind and raised them. Well they are moving out of state in a month. SO she asked if I can take them of course I said yes. I will be setting up a quarentine coop for the first month then a integration for a week or 2 in the coop. @ black hens and a rhode island red hen maybe. All hens thank god.
