I love that idea! They could be solar and charge up during the day. Although since that one night she hasn't been getting up in the night. And I have watched them in the day and they find the ladder perfectly comfortable. So I am leaving it be for now - though LED strips is almost irresistible. I mean, it is a palace after all!

Glow in the dark strips would also work.

Love and bad photography.
I was just out saying goodnight to the Princesses.
We like to have a chat before they settle down, so I was standing there resting my arm on the little Princesses’ fire escape, when Minnie climbed up my arms and settled in my shoulder.
It was nearly dark and I didn’t want her to lose her balance so I didn’t get any better shots than these.
Not only are her feet piping hot but her feathers are as soft as silk.
She seemed very interested in my hair.

What is the story behind the Littles' fire escape? I couldn't quite see how it was put together in your other photos. Could you share pics of it please? With chickens for scale of course!

They’re good; Charlie got through her hard moult. Nyssa is moulting now but not as hard as Charlie. I’m hoping Lucy has got egg-laying out of her system and stopped again! How are your ladies and Peggy’s enzymes?

I’ve got 8 birds, that I’d consider 75% “gimme some darned eggs” and 20% “pet”. Though, that ratio seems to be slowly creeping closer towards the”pet” end of the scale. Only one has a name. It’s Lazy Susan... because she has a lazy eye.
