Thank you all. (And thank you to any who post later). Probably won't be back on until late this evening/tomorrow. All the support and care here is greatly appreciated.

Weather has been crying too, but looks like it's breaking up a bit. 1st day of school, start time changes, bus is messed up, kid wouldn't have been picked up. He's already called off for today and tomorrow, so time to get that sorted out. Mixed blessing.

Hello everyone ! Also wanted to drop in to send some virtual good thoughts for @rural mouse, and @knoturavggrl.
I have to say how impressed I am at how graceful both of you are facing this difficult day. FBA does have a bunch of incredible ladies 💚.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I still have a lot of health issues with my flock, and trying to deal with those ; we also have a relative heatwave : nothing like what's going on for many of you, but highest temps ever for us, so still hard on everyone.

It was Léa 's teen chicks, the pooshoons, three months birthday yesterday, and I took IDs for my thread. I thought I would repost them for Monday mugs, apologies to those who have already seen them.

Pied Beau, the biggest cockerel, speaks and acts like a baby. He follows us around everywhere. He doesn't crow and I think he doesn't know he is a male chicken.

Petit Blanc is smaller but already hormonal. He’s been crowing for a month, watches guard for his siblings, and tries unsuccessfully to mate with adult hens. He can be a bit of a bully and pecks human legs, but he loves when I groom his head.

Laure is the wildest of the bunch, reminds me of Piou-piou 's temper. She won't eat from our hands and won't come near us.

Annette is the prettiest, and very curious. She's the one we knew was a girl from days old.

Lulu is very human friendly. She’s quite independent and often prefers to stay with the adults rather than with her siblings.

Melisse is likely Lulu’s true sister, she has the same temper and similar looks.
She’s more friendly with petit blanc whereas Lulu hangs out more with Pied Beau.

And some news that should make some of you smile : it seems Piou-piou is finally turning broody !

Beautiful mugshots ❤️ Ty so much for the well wishes :hugs

I am so sorry the other chick didn't make it. :-(

What about the mama? She has no chick now. Is she doing OK? Is she the one that you really need to break?
Well, she has been in and out of the nest box - it half broke her having the chick which she terrorized and all semblance of eggs. I will have to kick her out when I get home from work today -hopefully that will finally do the trick - if not today, at least after a few days of locking her away from the nest for a while (I can't lock her - and hence the other hens out - until later in the day when the others are done laying)

I'm officially off now, but I am refusing to take my computer home and check emails on my time - especially since these next 3 weeks I am working longer days...so I'm quick checking my email & FBA before leaving work (AND the computer!)

Wow, he looks like he will be a tall boy - his legs are almost as long as moms, and he isn't much shorter than her as it was there (for a foal). Very pretty forehead marking, too. 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰

I hope he was as sweet as his name!
Yes he was a real sweetheart, the lady I sold him to kept him till he died of old age.
