Yes, it was taken today. She certainly has the BR personality. Very laid back & easy to get along with, but while her sisters are more rounded she has this strange athletic body.
Do her feathers sit closer to her body or does she have fewer feathers?

What a good question, MJ! I thinks she is more tightly feathered. She's certainly not as nice & silky to the touch but then nothing about this girl is quite right. :(

Beautiful Bob.

But I always find it a bit alarming when they do this.

The first time I saw one of my hens sunbathing I rushed out to them and chased them around the back yard thinking they'd been injured. 😱
I think we all have panicked the first time. 😆

I was looking through old pictures and this one reminded me that I don’t think Ester is a Barred Rock. She looks more like a Cuckoo (?) Marans. However, her eggs started out as very pale, pinkish tan eggs and have faded over time to white. In this photo, Ester is at around 11:00 and Bridge, my Barred Rock, is at 2:00. Does anyone disagree they are not the same breed? What do you think Ester is? She looked different from the other Barred Rocks as a chick, but just slightly. The spot on her head was smaller and she just looked subtly different. Thoughts?

I think you're right. I don't believe that she is a Barred Rock. It looks like she has lacing and not barring. As to what kind of hen she is, I'm not sure.

I agree Ester doesn't much look like a Barred Rock ~ but then strange mutations do happen.
This is Patricia.
She is a Barred Rock but something went wrong in the gene pool. Her breeder thought she might come good after her moult but 2 moults & she still looks like this.
She looks & stands more like a rooster than a hen & her comb & wattles are really large.
None of which is helping but odd things do happen.

I don't see any Barred Rock traits in her at all. Her comb and wattles are very large. How long is her neck?

She definitely does not look like a BR. Her feathers look more laced than barred. What color are her legs?
