Need help from you my experienced chicken-ey friends. I posted this in the emergencies, medical thread but I trust you guys.
I am mildly freaked out - only mildly as everyone is running around as normal except Maggie who is in the nest box but this wasn't warm when I picked it up so I don't think she just laid it.
What is it? Should I worry? Let me know if this link doesn't take you to my post on the emergencies forum.

So everyone knows that for every good picture you get of you chickens you have 100s of crappy ones. Going through the one's i've taken the past week i found one that i want to strangle drumstick over. If he hadn't moved at the last second this one would have been one of my best yet of him.

Why Drummie, why did you have to shake your head.
They are uncooperative sometimes. Phyllis ruined several shots this morning. Thankfully we have digital photos now. There was a time you thought you had a great shot, paid a fortune to have it developed, only to find something like this waiting for you.

Fluffy butts are mostly eluding me today.

But not FBITs who like to photobomb.

Thank you. I am feeling a bit dispirited right now. I also feel guilty that maybe I didn’t do everything I could do to keep them healthy - although reading up it doesn’t sound like a husbandry issue.
Still at least for now they are all clearly enjoying their chickeney lives.

No, no, no, no, NO! This happens. It is not your fault and not the end for someone. It is not anything you did or did not provide or do. Do not blame yourself.

You will find out who it is and help them as best you can. That's what your job is. You cannot stop nature.

We are all here to help. Just like everyone helped me with poor Hattie.

Please do not blame yourself. :hugs:hugs:hugs

It's the hard end of chicken keeping RC.:hugsIt's there for everyone eventually. It doesn't matter how hard one tries, chickens get sick and injured and predated.
Feeling guilty really isn't a forward step and it doesn't help you, or the chickens.
Most of us do the best we can. What can be difficult is to find out our best isn't good enough. It's a worthwhile lesson to learn. I know many people who still haven't learn't this and when pressed will tell you they weren't really trying etc etc. Very few people I've met have set on a task with the intention of failing at it.;)

If I could have done, I would have done, but I didn't so I couldn't.:D

I know deep down I have done my best and it is just one of those things. But it still hurts.
I haven’t given up yet and it helps to have a task which is figure out which one it is.
I am always better with a mission!
