We all talk too much!:D
Getting caught up slowly.
The bits I was waiting for arrived from the UK. I know it doesn't look pretty, yet anyway, but it works.
I've had to change operating systems on two machines; Puppy Linux, my previous system of choice just spat at the new hardware and configuration and went screaming in a host of hot electrons down the nearest piece of wire.
I'm running Ubuntu Mate on both systems. Believe it or not, that little box on top of the big box is a computer. In fact it's the computer I'm using as I type this.
The antique Sony laptop will live on, but it's impossible for day to day usage. I use it as a music server and for that it's great.
Picture resizing proved to be a bit of a task with the new operating system and I'm still trying to find which compression gives the best forum results so if the upload pictures are not quite David Baily bear with me.

I understand about 1 word in 3 of this post - and those are mainly the little words. But I am glad it works for you Shad!

Heads up,*I think* the cream legbars have more non-leghorn in the mix. However, I’m not really clear what %. I need to pull up an actual scientific artticle and write it down. Lots of history and experimentation with coming up with the cream legbars. Bob, when you researched, did you take notes and determine the % leghorn for the cream variety? If I remember right, I think there’s the original 50 leghorn/50 barred rock, auracana for the blue egg gene, and something else, but I forget what. Hopefully not more leghorn. Where does the crest come from? (excuse the lousy english)
Ok, here is the history of the creation of the legbar as best I have learned.

The breed started with the Gold Legbar which was made by crossing a Brown Leghorn and Barred Plymouth Rock.

By crossing the Gold Legbar with White Leghorn and Silver Cambar you wind up with a Silver Legbar.

What is a Cambar you ask? Well it is a Barred Plymouth Rock crossed with, imagine this, a Gold Campine!

Cream Legbars were made by crossing Gold Legbar with White Leghorn and cream-coloured Araucana chickens.

So the Cream Legbar is:
  • 25% Brown Leghorn
  • 25% White Leghorn
  • 25% Barred Plymouth Rock
  • 25% Araucana
The White Legbar is a result of breeding Cream Legbars together. Occasionally true white offspring would result. It is because of a double recessive gene that produces the White color. They breed true because of it.

So essential the Legbar is a 50% leghorn chicken. Egg production is easy down to 180 to 200 per year vs the leghorn 250 to 300 per year. The standard Barred Rock lays about 200 per year as a reference.

And standard for Rhode Island Red is 260. Would prefer it be less, but at least I headed in the right direction!

I think males have twice as many bars, which also makes them lighter. However, I’m not seeing twice as many bars here. Maybe too soon to tell?
Male chicks have a spot on their heads. See the spot on Ned's head?

I have an old Jag hand-me-down from my parents that has been sitting for 5(?) years undriven. I shudder to think what the rats have done under the hood.
A photo is in order please.

More on the Rally Race Yesterday

First let me say I am surprisingly sore this morning. That was a lot of shifting and muscling the car around.

This was a road rally with the course set by, somewhat cryptic at times, written directions. No GPS allowed. For example go 3.7 miles, turn left, go 5.8 miles, turn right at the firehouse. My navigator led me astray twice. We had to backtrack twice adding an extra 15 miles to the 45 mile course. Despite this I passed three competitors at various times and we did not finish last although just finishing was a huge victory for us.

It was a timed rally with a staggered start. It was open to anyone but we went as an alpha club. So I was competing with these cars

And these cars (and there were several of them)

Here is the car and my navigator post check-in, in race trim.

After a successful race, the team deserves a good meal. I treated Mrs BY Bob to a fancy meal and a glass of wine outside.

I think that you will find this kind of cool. I mounted my phone on the windshield and recorded a portion of the race. You can ride along as I wind my way through two sections of the course.

It was quite late when we finally got back home but her she is back in the driveway a long hard day behind her.

It was so much fun to get out and away from the house like this. A good time was had by all.
I love your car! I recently met an old man at the gas station the other day. He was in a 88 s10, set up for drag racing but street legal. It sounded ridiculously cammed out! We got to talking, said he is getting to old to handle it down the track. Told him I'd run it for him anytime 😊 he told me anytime I want to give her a go, he will be at the local drag strip on Saturday afternoons! To come give her hell! Lol 😆 🤣 needless to say. I made a new friend 😁
