I was thinking of doing that, they are about a week or so late this year. I think all the rain has had something to do with that.Gorgeous! Peaches are DH's favorite
On the farm we had to pick fruit before fully tree ripe & set them on the table or kitchen counter to ripen; otherwise birds would peck holes in the fruit & ants & flies would get into the sweet open wounds. Rats or mice were never a problem but birds were the enemy.
It’s supposed to be nice for the next few days, so I’ll leave them a few more days and then bring in to ripen.
I also have some Asian pears which should be ripe in a couple weeks.
Apples are all over the place, some are ripe, some don’t ripen until first frost. Some are past ripe already. I’ll get some apples and see if the chooks will eat any, they normally are not fond of apples. Cabbage is their thing, and pumpkins.
