How did you get them to eat pumpkin?I was thinking of doing that, they are about a week or so late this year. I think all the rain has had something to do with that.
It’s supposed to be nice for the next few days, so I’ll leave them a few more days and then bring in to ripen.
I also have some Asian pears which should be ripe in a couple weeks.
Apples are all over the place, some are ripe, some don’t ripen until first frost. Some are past ripe already. I’ll get some apples and see if the chooks will eat any, they normally are not fond of apples. Cabbage is their thing, and pumpkins.

Yummy!
I've seen pictures of chickens eating a whole pumpkin starting w/a hole & they curiously peck at it to get to the flesh & seeds inside. We tried that & our hens ignored the whole pumpkin just strolling past it. Not the least bit interested.
Then we cut a bigger hole ~ nothing.
We cut it up into smaller chunks ~ not a peck!
We put pulled-out seeds for them ~ ignored.
Last chance ~ some pieces were cooked and mashed up & finally thrown away when it was bypassed.
Yet they love other tubular squash ~ baked white sweet potato being a real delicacy!
