I’m a bit late for Friday but I got a decent picture showing how large Luna and Prudy are

That is little Georgie girl from behind right? Looks just like Marty but I do not think Marty has gold flecks in her hackle feathers.

I did not set out to call my boy George. He was supposed to be Julio since I could not call him Adele any longer. Mom named him George. I like George for a name though. With my original group of Marans Drummie had a brother who I was calling George. For a bit Drumstick was not going to be my keeper boy.

Now in the last week mom is no longer calling him George. She and some of my neighbors got to talking. George is the talk of the neighborhood. Everyone loves him. Asks what he is, they love his antics he is getting into and what on earth is going on with his head feathers. As a collective group they have decided he is a late 70s, early 80s Rock chicken and should be called "Rod Stewart" :th.

No people, I am not changing his name again. The poor boy in his 4 short months of life has already been through 4 names. George he will stay unless you all want me outside yelling the name my brother gave him at hatch.

My brother used his sarcastic and sometimes dark humor to name him. George hatched early, 18 days. The only white chick in a group of black chicks. He claimed him, said he was the superior chicken and declared him a name I have never called him on here. It is a German name, one responsible for World War 2. I can not stand outside and call him that. So, I tweaked it and he became Adele in hopes of a pullet. When he became clear he was a boy my brother and Rosie were thrilled and insisted on the original name but nope, you 2 are getting Julio. I would have kept Julio for him, it sort of fit him and then Mom named him George. Little Georgie boy has all sorts of nicknames that just fit.

I miss the days when everyone did not look twice at a chick and offer a name suggestion. Normally I just have to fight Rosie over a name and most times I could win.

Georgie has more gold in her Shackle feathers, and yes Marty does have some also.

I think that photo is of Marty.

I just took these photos now:

Awesome! Thanks, I love how you did those links!

I have to ask - are those Ric Flair’s groupies 😉👍♥️

It’s permanent for those birds! Haha! Meaning no way will the new keepers part with them. It was a good decision. They live within a mile of me so I visit a couple times a week.
I need to do some work on my set up before getting more chickens. In the meantime we’re going to do some traveling before we’re too old.
It’s wonderful they are close by, and yes travel while you can ♥️

TEEHEE! Get Silkies! A flock of them will take turns laying eggs all year-round....that is,

if you can handle them going broody year-round,

getting bullied by bigger birds,

teaching them how to or trimming their eyebrows for them,

making multiple shelters for them cuz they can't fly from danger...

...other than those issues I guarantee you'll have decent-size eggs year-round :lau:celebrate:gig
O, you forgot this one terrorizing them because they are not chickens!

Dark times are upon me my friends. Shameful times.

This morning for the first time in years I had to run to the store to buy eggs!!!

Rosie has a friend over this weekend and they are baking a cake today. I did not know about this cake plan and sold my last dozen yesterday. I did not have a egg left in the house after making cornbread for dinner last night. My girls are a bunch of free loading molting slackers right now. I got 3 yesterday. Today if the pattern holds I will get 1 if I am lucky. Starting next week I am hoarding every single egg I collect for Thanksgiving baking.
Oh the shame of it!

🤭

It’s a good thing I have my this year pullets coming into lay, otherwise I would be there also! All my older ladies have decided ‘hey it’s gonna snow let’s get nekked and moult!’, so no eggs from them.

I cannot remember the last time Marty laid a proper egg, the other silkies are in varying stages of moulting also.
