Tree is nice, chook is lovely

(This is how you can tell I am a crazy chicken lady - I notice the chook first off hahaha)

Here is that same tree in 2008. I had been caring for it for 13 years at that point.

Here it is today 17 years later.

The other game hen is still on her eggs. Other side of the yard. I attempted to feed her but she’s just as wild as mama hen. I’m not naming anyone names until I find out what this ridiculous neighbor has to say about “his two brooding hens” I have several names for him though!

It's the best shade tree. I just love that tree. The chooks and I spend a lot of time under it.

I had two, a Lead and a Jr Roo. They never fought and they worked in tandem quite well. It all depends on individual personalities and I think a large run and free ranging make it more of a possibility as well. They were English Jubilee’s and another factor for my guys was the laid back Orpington demeanor.

From a biosecurity standpoint that is so foolish and dangerous. If you go to one, do not see your chickens until you have showered, changed your clothes, and either clean your shoes or don't wear them around your chickens.

You could easily unknowingly bring something back with you and make your chickens sick.

I agree with you 1000%!

I do usually take the kids to the fair but we stay well away from the buildings housing the chickens and yes I absolutely make everyone shower and change before heading out to the chickens even though we avoid the chicken building.

The other thing we have here is something called trade days. I went one time and I will never return. I was horrified to see so many people selling all sorts of farm and pet animals. It was completely open for the public to just wander in and out. I saw kids sticking fingers in cages etc. No one stopped them from doing this. It was so hot in those tents too. I had to leave, it was bad on many levels.
