On another topical subject given I'm due my pension in a few months; care for the elderly.
This is Tap grooming Fat Bird.
What do you think the chances of me getting some young chick to groom me are?

This is precious. I gave a soft spot for Fat Bird. Don’t we all? And whst a sweetheart Tap is to groom her!

I hear you but you're a skilled educator with a degree in literature. How many Australian children have such a mother? The vast minority. I get that you made the best choice for your kids but other families do not have a Ribh. Do we have a responsibility to consider everyone's needs? In SA, i think the publuc sentiment is 'yes' and that means funding the schools to support the learning of kids from challenging families. I don't mind parents taking their kids out as long as they continue to support the public schools somehow, even if its simply talking them up instead of down.

I hear you, MJ. After a decade helping plug the holes in the public education sector I'm more than a little jaded about it's overall effectiveness. For starters, of necessity, it must teach to the median, which means everyone gets a mediocre education. The best education I got was in the private sector for my final 2 years. I was in the elite classes for history & English ~ just 5 students & we were operating @ a uni level.

What I do know is homeschoolers have been outperforming public school students in America for decades & it is fairly well documented. The same was happening in Australia when we were finishing up but documentation was only just starting to happen.

S.A may have a better system in place than Qld. N.S.W. certainly has. The older, more experienced teachers are far better educated themselves than their younger counterparts. I was appalled @ some teachers lack of general knowledge. So while I understand where you're coming from I cannot agree. I hope I have said that respectfully. It is meant respectfully. :)

I keep forgetting my chicken tax.
Here is Alpia.

Oh yeh! And I hope my word choices are carrying my respect to you too. From your experiences working in schools, can we agree that homeschooling is a great option for some kids and a nightmare for others? I still don't think all parents are capable.

They were a cult & quite mad. View attachment 2414146
Yeh they were utterly the wrong people to have care of children. But they did have children in their care and they worked hard to indoctrinate them. You're right, though, the kids made up their own minds in the end and did their own things, to the extent they were able.
