One is in her mid 30’s, and the other is a jerk... he isn’t well socialized and needs worked with daily by one person to keep him in line, or he gets aggressive, bites, and he will roll on his rider. You’re welcome to come take him! He can’t be Pastured with the other three because he bites and kicks them... even big Donnie, our Draft mix, was getting beat up too much, I don’t think being alone and not getting regular people attention does Raymond (the jerk) any good. I should take some pictures of them. They free range the lower half of our property near the house and down the road by the vineyard.

I'll take the Old girl!! I love old mares. They have so much wisdom and it you ask nicely they will share it with you. Lily, my walker was 31 when she died. This is my old girl. Anna learned to ride on her and we both miss her daily.

One of the "promises" my ex-husband used to get me to marry him was that we'd build a barn and I could open a retirement boarding stable. Well we built the barn, made a very small 30 foot by 100 foot run and never fenced in another square inch of the 7 acres he had.

This was Jazz, her boyfriend who loved her WAY more than she loved him! He was an anglo-arab or a Thoroughbred and Arabian cross. He was a hunter/jumper, so I fully retired him when I got him. He was a great lawn mower and a goofball!

Project Barnevelder has started. I had 6 of the pullet's to pick my 3 from, so I took the best darker laced one's. They are settled in as well as possible for right now. It's been raining off and on and it's windy out there. I'm in the house now with a hot cup of coffee.

Where are the pictures? :(

No pictures yet. It was just before dark when we got back, and these girl's are dark in color also. I picked the 3 that had the thickest darkest lacing. I'm going to let them settle in and unwind overnight and check on them in the morning. They were hatched on 8/13.

Beautiful friendly looking horses! Too bad the retirement stable didn’t work out. That’s sort of what we have here... a small herd of free range elderly horses, and Raymond.

Pictures tomorrow!!! I looked at the timing of your post and it was about when I was heading out to close up my girls before it got too dark. We will all just have to be patient I suppose. Just promise, if I smuggle a Rooster down to you, you won’t eat him when he molts! (I need to maintain a sense of humor about that sort of thing... or it will drive me crazy ;) )

I don't eat rooster's just because they are molting like your neighbor did.

I know! :p  But could you just imagine it??? The work to sneak a boy down there “no ma’am, my purse isn’t crowing... that’s just the ummmmm.... ringtone on my phone, really!” Only to have it land on a dinner plate? I have a twisted sense of humor sometimes...

Still looking forward to pic’s :caf

Your ringtone or your alarm clock? Either way, it will have to be a big purse! :lau

Maleficent left me a Present

Maleficent was at the backdoor again today, surprise, surprise.

This time when I did not let her in, she left me a present.

That grove to the right is where the door seals. I can't figure out how she got her butt that close to the door? Is she a contortionist too?!

She looks mean (or cross). Lucy does a good mean face, usually when she’s impersonating a dinosaur.

Maybe Mal pressed that fluffy butt of hers up against the door? :idunno
