Humans have language. It'd be much easier to diagnose himans than animals.
Interesting. The more studies that get done, the more liley it seems that other creatures may have a language; defined by human standards or course.
Yet, here we are, enormously pleased with the fact that when we open our mouths sounds come out (some people never get over the novelty) we congratulate outselves on being great communicators.
So, if so damn smart how come we have so much trouble understand the languages of other species?

Is this taxable?:confused::caf

Just to be on the safe side and because it's proven to be the best way of narrowing the wealth gap, I'll pay my tax on time and if I've overpaid then I'll be expecting a rebate.

An admonishing look from Mel. The piece of walnut wasn't big enough.

The critical appraisal look after a better offer.

Definitely taxable. C'mon, pay up!

EDITED - sorry @Shadrach - I should have read ahead.

It's a PCR test here I beleive. You know, the one that has now been discovered doesn't actually work properly.:D

Feck! More tax.
Tackle.

Should have read ahead of course. Thank you for tax.
None of the tests are fully reliable but the PCR one has fewer false negatives than the antigen one (but is slower to give results), and I believe is the best we have at the moment

Sorry, no pictures because I forgot my phone, but the attitude of The Princesses to snow is hilarious. They haven't been out for 2 days - they look out their door and think better of it.
Today I went into the run just to check on things so they were all looking out at the crazy human standing in the nasty white stuff. They thought it would be fun to join me but not so fun as to get their feet cold and wet.
Minnie figured she could avoid walking in the snow by flying the full distance to where I stood (about 25') and landed in a small snow drift. She wasn't amused and immediately turned around and flew right back in.
Maggie came out very gingerly and awkwardly jumped down onto a small patch without snow. She likes to eat the snow but only if she doesn't have to stand in it!
Elizabeth, Diana and Dotty all stayed safely inside away from the white stuff.

Big debate going on here about the PCR test. Some recent studies published in Nature I think are questioning the reliability.

Tax.
Fat Bird. She's having a very slight moult.

I do think Fat Bird is one of the most beautiful hens. Look at that sheen!
I didn't see Nature but PCR false negatives are very variable by days since infection and can be very high. It is why you often need to do repeat tests a few days apart.

Unfortunately, it is still the best we have.

It is 8F (minus 13C) and carrying fresh water out every few hours is getting tiring. The heated waterer is on its way. Can’t wait!
Here is sunrise over the Chicken Palace and my boiled eggs color coordinated with my kitchen cabinets - courtesy of one or possibly both road-runner-little-Princesses! Silly I know, but it gave me pleasure this morning. View attachment 2455545View attachment 2455546View attachment 2455547View attachment 2455548 :lau
Makes me want to come and visit. Just gorgeous. I do love winter even if the ladies don't.
