The nerf gun falls a good 40 feet short, and shooting up like that doesn’t really work unless the BBB is on a low branch, bold as brass, and lets you get up close and shoot it in the fluffy behind! Grrrrr. Seriously thinking about getting out the .22, if just to scare it off (I can’t hit the side of a barn with it). It has done some low fly by’s, but recently has been just sitting there, every morning, watching. I stay out until it flies off. I know they nest nearby, and there are several other pairs elsewhere on the farm with nests. The RedTail Hawk worries me more, but it hasn’t crossed the draw yet.I don't think the nerf gun will reach it with any impact. That is pretty far up there. I don't think that I have tried anything at that distance. You might be able to annoy it at best. Darn, that is a little scary. Does it come any closer?
They are working on getting muddy again, like most my girls, but at least the mud here smells cow poopie at worst!Look how cute they are when they are not covered in mud!![]()
She is the only rumpless chick that has not only survived, but thrived. She does some odd things, like deciding she belongs with Roostie and his flock, and just seems a little derpy... but I love her too!Tailless is a cutie. I actually like her shape a lot.![]()
We were just arguing over sandwich construction today. The order in which you assemble it has a direct effect on the flavor. My Son-in-Law who built sandwiches for a living at Panera, disagrees. He says the order does not matter. I told my daughter if I had know that he felt that way I would never have approved of this marriage.

Little red is a fine looking rooster! Here we have my new rescues. I still haven’t managed to teach them about the waterers... I think they prefer the extra flavor of the mud puddles!View attachment 2467669View attachment 2467670View attachment 2467671

and this is an odd little friendship in the making, but if they are happy, so am I.

Ok, with all those chicken pictures, you had to know this was coming...
A little “Covid rant” inserted here. Poorly managed quarantines, slow and ineffective contact tracing, schools open with 30 kids per class and unmasked Basketball for PE! Public transit services back to full capacity, closures of public and Businesses restrooms overloading the open ones, and almost not sanitation being done in them... but no social contact outside your home except for allowing grandparents to help with childcare.
My Cousin’s two teens got the Covid and her parents (who pick said kids up from school and also “help with the child care”) also have it. Cousin says the schools are perfectly safe and it’s her stepdad’s daily shopping trips that caught it. The grandparents think the teens gave it to them. So far my cousin and her husband haven’t shown symptoms and her husbands test came back negative. My uncle is starting to have a rough go of it (but also isn’t following good self care like staying hydrated and eating) everyone else’s symptoms are quite mild so far. They are a little over a week since her stepfather tested positive.
So, stay please safe everyone... stay home as much as you can, wash your hands, and don’t be dumb. Daily brownie/bacon/chip runs to the grocery store (different stores each day no less) just aren’t worth it. For everyone with school aged children and an online/homeschool/etc education alternative, I think taking advantage of it is worth it!
DH and I are both firmly with you on this one Bob, even if we sometimes disagree on that order. This is also true for burgers. Wendy’s recipe is White, Red, Green, White, Red, Green; bacon, cheese, meat or mustard, meat, from the top down (Mayo, Ketchup, Pickles, Onions, Tomato, Lettuce). And aside from taste, it also has an effect on texture, the bun or bread moisture level (no one likes a soggy sandwich!) and if it is a toasted or warm sandwich this is even more important. Some things just do not go in a Panini Press! We were just arguing over sandwich construction today. The order in which you assemble it has a direct effect on the flavor. My Son-in-Law who built sandwiches for a living at Panera, disagrees. He says the order does not matter.
