This is the time of year where if there is not snow on the ground the weather is miserable enough that the ladies huddle up and don't move much. It's tough watching them huddle against the weather. They do not seem joyful.

Well the sun came out this afternoon and like a miracle, they were chickens again. And my heart was warmed.

It was stultifying. I wasn't able to defog my noggin until yesterday.

I'm sorry. I would prefer the cold to the heat. You can always put on more clothes, you can only take off so much.

The ac was running all day and all night for a couple of days. The hens did ok, I was especially pleased with Mary who feels the heat. Without the fence confining them, they established a hideout under one of the bushes beside the driveway and lounged around all day.
