Thanks fir the play by play, Shad!

So I think I agree with you about tribes and flocks. However, I’m still calling mine a flock, since they are together by confinement and not necessarily by choice., combined with the absence of roosters. :)
I seem to be the complication recently. I think confined, not by choice should make them a herd. Which of course nobody ever says!

Yet, you have free ranging “herds” of goats, cattle, bison, elephants, and zebras (though a ‘dazzle’ is far more exotic sounding for the latter). When you consider the intelligence, highly sophisticated social structure, and known emotional capacity of elephants (not at all in dispute, as many would for chickens) their description as a herd animal defies that generalization. Though I also like the “a blessing of unicorns” as a group descriptor. Maybe we should also apply that to chickens? A blessing of chickens... that seems quite apt.

Hmmm. Good point. You got me there!
I love the dazzle of zebra (never heard that before). We should definitely adopt ‘a blessing of chickens’. It is perfect.
I have always loved ‘a conspiracy of ravens’.

Sorry to pipe up when things were just getting settled but I think chickens are more dazzling than blessing.

So I may go my own way and speak of a dazzle of chickens. If that's ok with everyone.
