Really it’s mostly rags we are using in her litter box... and it was the BIL jacket I was training her to pee on, on purpose . I am seriously considering another goat or two, or moving the bell weather sheep my mother adopted into a small sheep/goat shed in our yard with her once the house is built. I may be also be staking claim to everything from the Mud gate to the first Timber Knoll fence around our house. It’s the worst area for forage and pasture on the farm, and if I decide to fight for it I don’t think there will be too much resistance. It would solve a few problems, the wandering nature of the Sheep in question (he’s an escape artist) and the “we should just send that fat useless sheep to slaughter” leverage... now to see if I have enough chicken pics for the taxes to cover that little rant!

Little Red “What exactly are you trying to do back there? Are you making fun of my tail, human?”
And a giant BBB:

They seem to be very nervous about you being behind them. Do they have a good reason to be? Has something happened in the past?

Bob, does Lilly’s comb stay bright red even though she has stopped laying? Or is it a bit more pale? In this photo it looks pretty red.
It pales up in the winter and when she is molting. That is actually kind of pale for her. Here is a side by side.

An Update and I will be looking for some opinions on it tomorrow... need some better pics than what I got today. Not doing as well as I had hoped for, but definitely a bit better.

Not too shabby for a meat girl! Diet and exercise... I suppose she would be in the heavyweight category, going up against a feisty welterweight. Sammy and Roostie were at this “posing” on and off for most of the day, and yes, it’s mostly for show! They could easily actually fight if they were inclined, as that “fence” is only a suggested separation at this point! They can go under, over, or around it with ease, and they do, multiple times each day. What really astounds me is the absolute stillness between the two hens, between this tussle and the first Round I missed getting on video (which was quite similar in action).

No hens were harmed in this, I would have interceded it if got serious, and yes, Sammy managed to Nick a wattle again at some point, well before this standoff (He’s also perfectly fine, but the bleeding certainly makes him look like a bloody mess on the pristine white feathers). I moved everyone apart some and distracted them with scratch, and returned Roostie’s GF to her proper side of the “fence” though it didn’t last too long!
That was quite a video. I'm glad you captured that. Makes me a little less stunned by Aurora and Hattie's fight.

Mine come when called, especially if I'm near the meal worm storage bin. 😆
They won't let me pick them up any more though, except for Alice who can't see me coming.

Sounds like time to start planning your chicken garden RC. How big is the area that you want to fence off?
If it warms up a bit later I am going to try and mark out an approximate area so I can play around with plans on paper.
My thought is to use temporary (maybe electrified) fencing so I can move it a bit through the seasons and to let pasture regrow or be mown or whatever.
More later!

Okies it’s way too late here now, I have to get to bed before everyone out East starts waking up, Lol!

Goodnight to all you night owls (of the not BBB type) and Good Morning Everyone Else In a few scant hours! I wonder how much catch up reading I will have tomorrow? 😂
I hope you had a good night's sleep without getting wet! 🐐

Deana, Tsuki and Alice are moulting. Pepper is broody and Edwina wants whichever box Pepper is using and sits on her. ☹

Perhaps they are just laying eggs in a secret spot away from Pepper.
I suppose they could be. I might just watch them or do an egg hunt just to be safe.

I was very happy that the road-runners paid attention and eventually followed Diana over to the other side. Last time a fox tried to get at them the road-runners were a little too chill about it for my liking.
I don't know why it was only Maggie who dashed for safety out of the area. And no, I didn't speed up the video, she really moves that fast!
Speed = Survival. I'm glad she is that quick.
