Thank you so much @CrazyChookChookLady ! It was so nice to see you and Rich yesterday. We need to get coffee someday so we can visit longer.
My half brother arrived today on a short notice short stay visit.
Chicken were very funny. Tap, Moon and Tyle, Mel's two pullets and their brother wandered into the house mid morning. Moon had come tearing down the path and turned straight into the house doorway. She had got in about a meter when she realised someone else was here. She did an almost perfect vertical take off and shot straight out again.
Tribe 1 kind of hovered around the door, making occasional quick forays to the feed tray near the door. Within seconds of my half brother leaving the house they all piled in clucking and tutting. Moon and Tyle headed straight for the arm chair a wiggled in making themselves comfortable.
Treacle, the junior rooster in Tribe 1 who has imprinted me as a tribe member came into the house and hackle flashed by half brother when he was sitting in the arm chair.
I scooped Treacle up, just in case, and sat him on my palm, my forefinger and middle finger either side of his thigh and deposited him outside.

That was quite interesting. We lead completely separate and different lives. He's 25 years younger then me. He doesn't keep any animals. He's a city man (London UK) and like many has some passing fantasy of a country life but seems to know he isn't really cut out for it. He knows I'm a bit odd. He was interested in the chickens and I was a bit surprised to hear him say he doesn't differentiate between the worth of one life form over another. What did your brother think of chickens in the house? Or is his house like that too?
I'm never quite sure what an animals criteria is for acceptance. As you know, I'm not really keen on dogs... lol All of the houses I deliver eggs to have dogs ~ & all the dogs adore me.That was quite interesting. We lead completely separate and different lives. There are very few people who come here the chickens will stay in the house with.
There's a local guy here around my age. He used to be a shepherd in these mountains. He does still take flocks out but it's occasional. He drinks and plays bass guitar in a band. They are funny that way.I had Tuppence inside yesterday for a once over. She was fine about being with me & fine in the house. She was even fine about Marlow, who usually hangs round the chicken yard if I'm there, but my hubby put in an appearance & she was most unhappy!
He spoke gently & quietly but he's not someone the chooks see up close all that often & she decided she didn't want him round!
