I don’t normally see the Chicken Palace with the light on because I turn it off when I walk out, but tonight I forgot to bring new batteries for the cameras so I ‘popped back’ (by popped I mean balanced on my board walk over the snow). I thought it looked pretty.

Inside there is a spherical and lonely Minnie.
Why Minnie? Why won’t you snuggle up to the others?

It seems to be her choice, but it looks sad to me.
Any ideas why?

Some supportive evidence that Minnie is channeling her inner Garbo and just wants to be alone: tonight she was on the big roost with everyone and then jumped down and went over to 'her' roost. I think she must enjoy being Alpha hen of her own tiny flock at roosting time.
The shrieking in the middle of the night remains a mystery.

Seems I have a new tribe of lap chickens.
Chin , shoulders, on my nose, top of my head Chickens now. It’s a rough life, being momma and daddy to these little girls.
And still (never discounted my bigger tribe) everybody gets attention!

And that's the thing, being stuck inside. My chickens are getting the worst of it but we are all like that. Of course we already were essentially because of the COVID. Mostly you need to see the sun. Days of snow means days of dreary. That will play on the psyche.

that's the truth. Coming from Oz 2 days of grey skies in a row would do for me! I don't know how you northern types live with that.

There is nothing like the sun shining on the snow the day after a storm - enough to lift anyone's spirits.

They weren't interested in the super bowl tonight. The chooks are tired of Brady.
