Truly Kris, your post with pictures and your advice relaying your experiences have been sooooo helpful! I did wonder if I should try to dab something on there to protect the wound - like pine tar - but I couldn't see anything staying on very well or for very long. RE stress - lucky for her and me it was apparently done bleeding way before I found it was the probable cause of the blood!Nail bleeding is a PITA to try and stop... you’re probably best off finding it well after the break, it’s much less stressful that way I find. I clipped Roosties too short while trimming (because of his bumble they were getting too long, I don’t normally need to trim) and was Frantic, you can’t really apply pressure to it, letting it clot on its own is the only option unless you have a styptic powder on hand (cornstarch or flour don’t work as well as purported, I have tried both). Glad it was a minor issue, and not something less treatable. TBH, unless it looks quite severe, my leave well enough alone approach to minor injuries and bleeding has been far less stressful for everyone, chickens, husband, and self included.
Wow. How large is this dinosaur? The scale here - is that a normal-size window - is this iguana 2 feet long? Wow! What's her name?I just had a tasty dinner too, cajun spiced shrimp and creamy cornmeal polenta
Gave the ladies the last piece of quiche today, they were afraid of the dish it was inso had to hand feed it to them, or toss bits to them, so no pics.
Did spend a rare afternoon with my other dinosaur letting her have some time in the front window.

I had forgotten how lovely your breakfast bar is. I copied your idea but at a fraction of the size. I need to revisit that! You're on to me RC. It was just an excuse to post the picture really.![]()
Yes, I realized that is what is happening. It is interesting to me that neither of them backs down. I hope it doesn't get more vicious.Roosting time is never simple. I thought a longer view of roosting might give you some insights. Your ladies are working out their own little pecking order. It's not as vicious as mine but thats what is going on. It does not look like either wants to give in to the other. This will be fun for some time I bet.
I can't see that happening.Yes, I realized that is what is happening. It is interesting to me that neither of them backs down. I hope it doesn't get more vicious.
I hope you are right. During the day they are BFFs.I can't see that happening.
I liken this to Maleficent and Aurora once Mal was in front of her in the order. A little pecking at roost time but besties all day long.
My brother is up there. He will keep you warm. MaybeVegetarian’s beware!!! Your food has armed itself and is ready to fight back!
(See how far away from the GMO debate I’m staying? A decade at WholeFoods has scarred me deeply with all the misinformation, propaganda, and militant Vegans and Vegetarians “saving animals and the planet”)
Shoot! *shoves soapbox back into a dark corner* maybe no one noticed? I’m going to have to lure my poor west-coast pansy chickens out into a polar vortex for tax purposes now? (it’s below freezing here!!! Not fair, I’m from Vancouver, it’s the “southern gulf islands” it’s NOT supposed to do this here!as all you dealing with actual blizzards, hoar frost, ice storms, and worrying about actual frostbite roll your eyes in exasperation
) note that means I’ll also have to go outside in sub zero Celsius weather!
