Quick Sansa Update

For those that are wondering, I just watched her head down at the feeder for 8 minutes straight. I feel like she is eating enough. With the snow likely to be gone by the end of next week hopefully the cabin fever will ease, if that is all that is going on.

Then we can work on rebuilding trust between us. I really hope that is all that is bothering her. 😕

Your place just looks amazing. Even with the Arctic sun. 😁
Yes, I am very lucky. Covid lock-down has not been so hard on me because it means I can spend every day in my slice of heaven! I live in a very rural area right on the edge of a nature reserve (which explains the heavy predator load).

I think it would be worth it. Then I am hemmed in by neighbors. Different worlds.

Herding Chickens
One of the issues of my roosting arrangement is that those who come late to roost (always the young road-runners) block the way out for those squished up closer to the wall, and just like all teenagers they aren't keen on an early mornings.
I finally caught on camera how they deal with this problem in their morning routine.
Here is Maggie herding chickens. :lau:lau
It was only by chance I put in that little passing spot!

Why ever did you add that spot to the roost? It is truly fortuitous. 🤣

I added mine because Daisy, the greatest hen ever, did not seem to like the 2x4 so I gave her the round roost back. She never used it. Maleficent used it to roost in peace from Lilly's iron beak. Now Phyllis uses it to go around. Happy accidents all.

You do know that they are trying to rhyme Emu with LiMu (Lee-Moo) which is short for Liberty Mutual Insurance, right? While I suspect there will be a whole generation which pronounces it wrong moving forward, many of us still pronounce it the correct way.

Beautiful Sansa shot!

Yes, different worlds. There are trade-offs however. There are almost literally no services (water, sewage, trash etc.) and we often get cut off in storms because the roads get blocked. I used to live a city life and I loved that, but now I am very content here. My city friends worry about me because I am so far from 'help' and I guess that is true. But it also means I am far from 'annoyances'.
Also, I am in New Jersey for goodness sake - it is one of the most populated states in the country. I have a vehicle, there are roads. How isolated can it really be?!
I honestly am just enormously grateful for everything, I am one of the luckiest people alive.
:love

That was fun to watch! Love the passing spot!

Esther really is looking beautiful 😍. Her comb is spectacular in that first photo. I hope its just softshelled eggs
Thank you!

I snuck into the coop with my headlamp and baby bird formula with crushed calcium again last night. I’m kicking myself for not doing this more after seeing the soft egg. I seriously need to step up the coop cam priority.
