Me and the family spent most of the day at the Royal Easter Show today.

Bad news I'm afraid. They were doing judging in the chicken pavilion for simply hours and had closed off most of the chickens so I couldn't get many photos. 🥺 Sorry to disappoint my chicken friends.

The sebrights were super cute.

Youngest was very taken with the Silkies.

In good news, youngest entered 3 items into the craft competition and won first place in "Handstitched leather item" category!

That mask is amazing! Love that! :love

I wasn't trying to be critical but we are doing very well because of all the testing. I think it is best if everyone understands that many companies, not just ours, are turning a tidy profit on testing and vaccines. We are not giving them away.

I will stop there as this is a chicken thread. Sorry everyone for the diversion. Hopefully this makes up for it.

Just coughed up ÂŁ170.00 for the obligatory 2 and 8 day quarantine test pack for the UK, plus ÂŁ100.00 for a PCR fit to fly test required to get on a plane.
Cost of flight; ÂŁ35.00.

Legbars lay way fewer eggs than leghorns per year. On average they lay about 180 to 200 eggs per year. Daisy, the greatest hen ever laid 350 eggs 1 year. I believe that you will be much less likely to have the usual leghorn egg problems.
Can't stand that "it's just a chicken" comment from people. Most can't even grasp the he and she bit let alone the emotional connection.

I hear you. Last year my 16 year old cat Moses passed. He was a special cat to me and we lived through a lot of things together. I still feel sad that he is no longer with me.
I have said goodbye to pretty many dogs and cats at this point and it’s never any easier. One would think that I would stop having them, but I love having animals in my world.

Health care here is very good for emergencies but for the day to day stuff it's lacked investment for many years.
It's free at point of delivery.
I much prefer a system where health care is paid for by taxes. In general it means everyone has access to it. In general it's the poor who need the care most.

I agree. They aren’t livestock to me, they are my pets.
Hubby and I just buried Dorothy today. I found her dead in the coop under the roost. I have no idea what happened. I examined her and she is perfectly normal except she is dead.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I walked in the coop and saw her lying there.
As you can imagine I am really depressed.
She was going to be a year old in May. :(
