Foster Farms, is the prominent poultry processing company locally here, but their trucks do occasionally drive by on the highway next to my property. Every time my chickens see the trucks, they quickly run and hide, why is that? :eek:
Walmart distribution center is here as well, but they have no problem with them.
:th
They KNOW! :eek::eek::eek:

She's doing great! What a strong hen!! I say continue to not interfere with her because it's working wonders, and see how she goes, she may continue to pick up.
Thank you. She wanted out again the morning, so let her free range unsupervised for five hours. That was a risk, but I thought it was worth it. Now the rest of her tribe/flock, the dog and I are out with her. It’s a three -day weekend, so that will be four days of free ranging for her. I can’t believe she still makes her happy sounds. While she LOOKS like a different hen, she sounds the same. I love that. I cherish each day she has, and hope she does, too.

Just wonderful news 💜 enjoy your long weekend with her and the other ladies!

Yes you did, and no I won't. Yes I did, and I messed up with "Rocket" RIP. So no more broodies for this tribe.
Alex, if it’s not too painful, can you remind me what happened here? Little Mill is broody and I’ve been letting her sit it out to keep Ruby company. I make her come out at least a couple times a day and bring stuff to her in the box.

Rocket was setting on 12 eggs, I stupidly moved them to a safer place, she didn’t set on them after that. A week later she broke her leg and I had to put her down. (No vet available at that time) she was a great hen, but her sister Rocks-Ann is still with me. The memory of rocket still bothers me.:hit

Oh, yes. I remember the broken leg now. I’m so sorry.

Thank you. Part of me feels like we’re just dragging out the inevitable, but I’ve said several times now, we’re on her terms. If she wants to (and can) live, I’m certainly going to let her.
