Obeying her avian masters
Yes, keep studying. We must be sure about these things. In that case I will go with wing bars.
But I still think I can use the excuse to sit under the tree and study.

They are pretty smart.Well it turns out that I am already feeding the crows because they are feasting off my cherry tree.
There will be no run expansion. There is plenty of run. There will also be no lost run space. No one gets cornered now. There are roosts and places for them to get up. I am going to expand the porch this year but that will expand the available space only a little.Shad, you are being practical again....Good points though.
If you are extending the run Bob, perhaps you could add another side in, making the run a square instead of a U shape. Maybe add more vertical space too. More corners and perches means more places to hide.
Still, they have all summer and Autumn to get used to each other.
It was why I was keeping it a secret. Expansion is a couple of months off.You mean we have to wait?
(and this is why you were keeping it a secret.)
I have not. But I have not looked hard. I don't want to mess with the nest.![]()
(Did you find the shell?)
As it gets dark they fly home each with a cherry in their mouth! They are pretty smart.![]()
You may have to pull her off the roost to see. Your roost is high enough that if you can pick up her foot you should be able to see well enough. If you tap the back of her leg she should pick her foot up for you.Maggie is limping badly today.
I happened to get coop cam footage of her coming down from the roost but she used the ladder so I don’t think she landed too hard.
I tried to examine her foot for cuts but couldn’t see anything. Mind you, she wasn’t super cooperative with that process so I am not sure.
I will try a footpath later and see if I can get to look when it gets dark.
She is getting around limping and nobody is bothering her so I am taking a watch and see approach.
Poor Maggie.
