In case anyone is wondering how the "Taming the Blueberry" is going. I think this picture says it all. My new little buddy, in under 2 days she's went from wild child to attention hog.

The big Princesses are enjoying their frozen yoghurt (actually kefir). This is great news as it is packed with protein, probiotics and calcium.
It does however make their beaks messy.
They solve that by wiping their beaks on my boots. All three of them lined up to wipe off on my boots.
The Roadrunners take the second seating and are much better mannered!

Thank you. I owe it all to Raven and her need to be with me. Blueberry picked it up from her that it is a good idea to be friends. I let them out about a hour ago so they wouldn't be bored and while not a tight group yet, she is sticking pretty close to them. Will put them back up in the coop tonight.

Here’s something interesting….
I have 5 layers. 1 brown, 2 blue, 2, green.
this morning we found a “fairy egg” on the poop board. Figured Ms. Ruby (barred rock) laid it overnight. She hasn’t laid an egg yesterday. I went out tonight and just found this speckled egg!! Both very thin shells. Seems like she laid both between last night and sometime this evening.

Also, I did not see any more maggots on Ruby, but she does have a couple more tiny sores. I actually never saw a maggot on her at all, just on the turd. I’m wondering why I can’t find them? Her body language is better, even though she is super weak. So I’m hoping I’m on top of it enough. I washed her back end this morning with betadine scrub, towel dried her, and sprayed Veteracyn (sp?) on her. I also washed Little Mill and Bridge’s back ends with water and a little dawn.
YES!! as soon as walmart and HD have them out in the spring, like end of Feb / march I buy 8 and the hornet ones.

I have hung those stinky thing out every spring and just use the hoes to add more water if it gets low
