Yup that is what I used before the chickens were here to eat the slugs.I heard that a beer bottle with a small amount of beer in it attracts snails and slugs. Just FYI
no don't wedge it upright - leave it on its side with just enough beer not to come out of the neck - slightly burying the bottom edge so it is slightly tilted is ideal. The slugs slither in through the neck and then drown in the beer in the bottle.Good thinking mate. I'll look for one tomorrow. I'll have to wedge it upright
I even thought of using my fermented yeast liquid, with sugar but the feathered crew would get into that, they love sourdough. I hope they don't get too the beer.
Jaffar would have a real problem, if they all get drunk![]()
I worry about thorns and bumble foot with roses. My Princesses do like rose petals so I thought about it but then as I was deadheading roses elsewhere I got pricked and thought that would be really bad for bare feet!Yes, that's what I'm thinking. Yah, like that!no don't wedge it upright - leave it on its side with just enough beer not to come out of the neck - slightly burying the bottom edge so it is slightly tilted is ideal. The slugs slither in through the neck and then drown in the beer in the bottle.
I don't think the chickens could get at the beer through the neck of the bottle.
Good point! Thanks for mentioning it, I'm grateful.I worry about thorns and bumble foot with roses. My Princesses do like rose petals so I thought about it but then as I was deadheading roses elsewhere I got pricked and thought that would be really bad for bare feet!
Then buy the chickens little shoes! (Do I have to think of everything?)I worry about thorns and bumble foot with roses. My Princesses do like rose petals so I thought about it but then as I was deadheading roses elsewhere I got pricked and thought that would be really bad for bare feet!
I may totally be over-worrying about it (I tend to over-think that sort of thing!) so feel free to ignore me!Good point! Thanks for mentioning it, I'm grateful.
