She is quite beautiful. Can't wait for my LOs to grow up! They are 5 mos now.Since her molt, Hattie is spectacular.
Here is a better photo. I have never heard of the ragged feather gene. That's kind of sad. Im sorry yours have it.

Two of my cats have gotten inside the chicken run and neither of them went after a chicken. They just wanted to know why they aren't allowed in there.Killer Cat?
Has anyone ever had a cat kill one of their hens? I just flushed a cat from around my coop. When I grew up cats and chickens lived together in barns. I have never heard of a full size chicken being killed by a cat.
In fact, before Aurora came in the big coop today (yes again), this stare down went on. When she camer in, Davis ran away from her. (Then again he is friends with mice, not a great cat example)

My son used to bring home injured birds, and one time he brought home a full sized crow that was injured. We nursed it back to health. The cat we had then approached it out of curiosity and the crow spread it's wings to catch it's balance.
Mrs. T, the cat, couldn't get away from that bird fast enough! Scared her to death, and then that was that. She was done with the bird.
Still I don't allow the cats in the chicken run. Why take a chance?

...
) is they/we talk about chickens. I know there's a bit of chat in between but some threads now are so depressing reading about everyones troubles, plus some of the culture stuff, I just can't do them anymore. You wouldn't know some of the contributors kept chickens at all.
