In my experience neither.
Step one is exclusion. Hard but doable I think depending on your set up.
Step before that is taking food out of coop at night.
Step two I am afraid is snap traps. They are human fast death.
Sorry. I am not into killing things but they can get out of control really fast.
This mouse was at their feed this morning my girls are stressed

There are 2 woods here that's why I thought that alternative. But if this is impossible I will have to take the cruel way. What's your view on the ultrasound method? Would this upset my chickens?
Ultrasound? Are you trying to remove the mice, or check if they are pregnant? :lau :duc

I know of a man, whose life started out quite awful too.(Like your chicks) People tried to kill him as a baby, but he got away to safety, He was born under some very poor circumstances. He was nurtured well, and grew up strong. By the end of his life, he saved the entire world!
So, I believe, there is hope for your babies, and seems our vigil did bring them home to you Bob! :D :old
:hugs

I know of only humans beings that survived through awful situations as babies into childhood and then young adults. They were not able to save the world but some of them try their hardest to help humanity in the best way they can
