Thanks Shad. She has not evicted from under her but neither has she taken it out for a walk yet. I don't know what to make of that.
Is it possible she thinks she's got a day or two before she needs to worry about getting the chick fed as would normally be the case with a newly hatched little one? I'm asking out of total ignorance here.

I'm sorry I did not respond sooner MJ. I was too busy trying to stay awake to bring the Buff through the night. I was also tired of crying everytime I read all of everyone's wonderful supportive posts. I was running out of tissue.
Is tissue, really the issue? When I’m using the restroom, I play poker, using toilet paper, and the game ends with a strait flush usually. I’ll shut up now.:duc:oops:

Maybe she knows that it still needs to rest.
Or maybe as a new Mom she doesn't know what to do! Any sign it is eating?
The chick has not eaten or drank since I put it under her. It has come out three times. It is not cheeping like crazy. Phyllis is eating and is definitely not in a broody trance. She has been grooming and nest building.

This exact question has been running through my mind.

@CrazyChookChookLady says that the chick could go get food and water if it wanted to do so. That I should be patient.
