Ha! We had house shopped in NY Westchester and north area and coming from CO it was amazing to see all the lush green land. Then we thought "oh so quaint there is an old water wheel next to the house" and then surprise! A literal stream in the basement. We were not prepared to take on that house 😂

East coast is a whole different beast than out west, that's for certain!

But now I can say I've endured earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and wild fires.

Happy to NOT add to that list!
"The unsinkable Molly Brown" Or should I say "The indestructible Lady Red"? :D

Oh no - not finished - it is where well tanks, cat litter trays, and boilers live. The 6" was an issue because it was higher than the pilot light and higher than the freezer motor. This puddle is trivial in comparison.
I feel much better knowing this. 👍

Yes - I have drainage and a sump pump. The house I lived in before this one - same area and even older (the main beam was just a tree trunk) actually had a spring running through the basement.
I think in its day it was probably quite convenient - fresh running water in the house!
It was sort of fine in that it didn't really flood that much it just babbled on out of there.
The real issue was that the cats would catch fish and snakes out of it and bring them upstairs.
:lau
That's outstanding. True justification for having cats. You had to! 😆

I caught Annie with her mouth full!!
My Mom's garden has copious amounts of weeds which she shares with the chickens. They're happy to help 😊!
