I was thinking of this photo, and yes he was sorely in need of some grooming!I bet she would be swooning all over him. Even grooming that handsome man.

Bob has three new beautiful girls, Sidney a Barred Rock, Sansa a Wyandotte, and Phyllis the Polish, and it is way too cold out down there! We chatted a bit about Eagles, cats, and life. The skunks haven’t been around too much and no sign of the killer. The Run/coop is fully tightened up. The new girls are in the smaller coop, pending full introductions. That’s what stands out in my recollection regarding just Fluffy Butt Acres. There are also more new chickens with others, @Ribh and @MaryJanet (I still need to catch up over there) my incubator is full, and I’m starting to get the house up. That’s about everything big I can think of... anyone remember anything I missed?
I did listen to that. Crazy!I feel like this one got lost in all the eagle talk. Literally no one commented on the fact that Lilly is trying to crow. I've heard that it can happen but seeing and hearing it was nuts.

He got himself that way, and didn’t seem to mind the mud one bit! If only I had gotten this message before we lost the light... while I was chasing him, his still half wild young flock, and his little cockerel buddies around trying to get them all back in the tractor for the night; I might have a new picture for you, you’ll have to settle for this one from summer.Awwww poor boy. Now show him clean!

You should re-post it under the new” transgender chicken” forum! Sorry, I read one today or yesterday, titled something like that, with this huge write up about this “rooster” that wasn’t like the OP’s previous roosters, with this gorgeous picture of a very clear pullet... not your “rooster” checking out those nest boxes isn’t “transgender” it is 100% a pullet getting ready to lay.How often is it that way and not the why is my hen acting so funny?
All seriousness though, I’m not that surprised about Lilly starting to try to crow. As you said Patsy did something similar, and she is a more mature hen. The chicken version of menopause it seems. Sounds odd, but I bet it beats hot flashes! (Sorry Bob for the TMI.) and yes, I saw it amongst all the Eagle digression, but had totally forgotten about that! Thanks for re-linking it!
One of my Australorps would crow. Not a full throated rooster crow but a poor castrated attempt of a crow.I feel like this one got lost in all the eagle talk. Literally no one commented on the fact that Lilly is trying to crow. I've heard that it can happen but seeing and hearing it was nuts.
