Here is something which I think will play out in favor of them eventually hanging out together. Phyllis has always been more active than my other chickens. There are many times when the tribe is content to lay in the sun or sit around digesting when Phyllis is up and active alone. This was one of those moments today. Phyllis wandered off from the tribe alone and encountered the other chickens who were also out and about being active. Perhaps their activity level will be a better match than Phyllis has with the group right now.
They were upright in the ground a few days ago. What are those two poles with black stuff on the ends?
Wonderful!!!Tax

Ah, now I can see that is what they are. Well good news - at least you have posts. They were upright in the ground a few days ago.The black stuff is earth encrusted concrete. The person responsible for the whole animals and allotments project invited/offered the area outside the chicken run to a management team building exercise with the intention of making a bit of money and getting a new encosure for the geese built.
They ra ra raed around the place, dug a few holes, got some posts pointing at the sky mostly and propbably got back in their posh cars and went home to the suburbs feeling very pleased with themselves; after the obligatory stop at the pub of course.
Unfortunatley the post were not placed in line, or anywhere that anything practical could be done with them. Given my intention is to enlarge the run a few post pointing aimlessly at the sky seemed like rather a waste so I uprooted them. I just need to smack the concrete with a sledge hammer and replant them in line without concrete. There are seven in total. At 2.5 metre centres that's one side and a bit of the end of the new run sorted with regard to posts.
Under that zinc tub looks like a perfect hidden nest site!
