Thank you. I did a home test for Covid just in case (negative) but I think it is a side effect of the month of antibiotics I was on for Lyme. Really nasty gastritis with a lot of pain and vomiting every hour or so.
Not something I am prone to so a bit scary as well as miserable.
I am turning the corner as I managed to keep down a third of a plain boiled potato since last night though the cramps continue.
I am maintaining electrolyte and hopefully fluid balance by sipping the Gatorade that I originally got for Minnie!
:hugs

Hello Fluffy Butt peeps. I have been quite sick the last few days and barely able to drag myself out of bed to care for the critters.
Think I am maybe turning the corner now. Just dropping in to say big news. Maggie has decided to start roosting again.
I missed it all because of being out of it but there she is this morning between Diana and Dotty on the big roost.
I am happy about that.
Minnie is still roosting alone but she is perky and laying eggs so I can’t put that down to sickness. Just bloody mindedness!
Glad for Maggie:clapSorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you are up to snuff soon! (And watch out for the glass at the end of your driveway!)

They're making great use of the cluckle hut! Is there the option of putting food and water in there too?
There was food and water in there. I removed the water because for some reason the humidity is running high in that coop. With the frigid temps we are about to experience that could lead to frost bite. I just placed food back in the Hut today. I wanted Phyllis to be able to tank up before bed.

As the pirates of old say: “keep yer Socks and yer powder dry maytee, arrrrrr!” especially if it’s brrrrr cold!
I think i need the pirates to give me new socks. I apparently have no boots and only small shoes like sandles! Bad choice on my end with 8 1 / 2 inch snow!

Frigid Roosting

Lilly decided to roost in the Daisy spot tonight next to Hattie.

I alas figured if I was a chicken I would roost with Hattie. She just looks like she radiates heart.

I'm guessing that Lilly wanted to avoid the winds which are roaring out of the northwest and pummeling the corner of the coop where the high roost is.

As far as Phyllis goes tonight, she is roosted alone. The heater has her coop 4°F above the outside temp where Phyllis is roosted. She could go and roost closer to the heater and pick up more heat if she desired. I placed my temperature sensor right where Phyllis roosts for reference sake.
